The actress starred in I Hate Valentine's Day, released in 2009. She played a florist who avoids long-term romantic relationships, but life changes and she has to change with her.

Two years later, Vardalos wrote the script for the film "Larry Crown", which received high ratings. The film tells about a certain Larry, who lost his job due to lack of proper education,almost lost his house, after which he decided to go to university to get a higher education. It is this decision that changes his life. The main characters of the film are the already famous actress Nia Vardalos and Tom Hanks.
