Vardalos' next two jobs were pretty bad, judging by the fact that both projects were eventually cancelled. The first project was the comedy series "Nia Vardalos", in which she played the main role, but it was closed after seven episodes filmed.

Second - the movie "Connie and Carla". In this case, Nia was again both the screenwriter and one of the main characters. The film did not even recoup the funds invested in filming. Almost five years after her last work, a new film by Nia Vardalos appeared on the screens - "My Big Greek Summer", where she also acted as a screenwriter and the main character. The film, in comparison with the previous ones, gained popularity among viewers and fell in love with them.

The actress starred in I Hate Valentine's Day, released in 2009. She played a florist who avoids long-term romantic relationships, but life changes and she has to change with her.

Two years later, Vardalos wrote the script for the film "Larry Crown", which received high ratings. The film tells about a certain Larry, who lost his job due to lack of proper education,almost lost his house, after which he decided to go to university to get a higher education. It is this decision that changes his life. The main characters of the film are the already famous actress Nia Vardalos and Tom Hanks.

Around the same period of time, Vardalos received roles in episodes of television series such as:

In 2016, the second part of the film that brought her great popularity - "My Big Greek Wedding 2" was released.

Private life

In 1993, the actress married Ian Gomez. For a long time they had no children, but in 2008 they decided to adopt a girl named Ilaria.
