In 2005, Warner Bros. decided to revive the failure of the bygone millennium and retell the story of millionaire Bruce Wayne, better known to the masses as Batman the Bat-Man.

Director

Christopher Nolan is one of the preeminent filmmakers of our time, and all thanks to his non-trivial approach to filming. Today, he has such megaprojects as Interstellar, Inception, The Dark Knight. In the 1990s, he was a little-known but promising director from England, who could become a legend, or go to his native Britain and "hang out" shooting commercials and TV shows.

After the thriller "Remember" the whole world learned about Nolan, but his next projects were not very successful. And yet, in 2003, Warner had already hired Chris Nolan to film Batman. The Dark Knight (the actors for the film were selected only with the light hand of the director) was supposed to become not the embodiment of a comic book hero, but a real person. Nolan wanted to create a believable story so thatthe viewer did not leave the feeling that this hero really lives in Chicago. After talking with the producers and not even having a ready script, the English director convinced his colleagues to invest good sums in the promotion and shooting of the film. The catch was that Nolan was not well versed in the world of comics, he needed a screenwriter who would become his guide in the world of Bruce Wayne. Then Christopher called David Goyer and offered to write the script for the new "Batman" together. The negotiation stage was lengthy, and yet the persistent Briton managed to convince Goyer to take on this scenario. As time has shown, the result was worth it.

"Batman": the beginning of the story

The first film was "Batman". "The Dark Knight", the actors and roles of which were approved at the initial stage of writing the script for the picture, - the second, and the third part was called "The Dark Knight Rises".

The first part tells about the childhood and development of Bruce Wayne, about his phobias and secret desires. Eight-year-old Bruce, in whose eyes his parents were killed, grows up as a closed child and longs to take revenge on the killer of his loved ones. When he becomes a young man, he understands that his native Gotham is mired in banditry, and there is no force that can stop gangsters. Bruce leaves his native land and goes on a journey around the world, where he acquires the necessary martial arts skills. Upon returning to his hometown, he decides to become the counterbalance to criminals that his native Gotham so lacks.

Neither the screenwriter nor even the director himself suspected that the film would become a franchise. So the first part started, it was successful, collected good box office. When the second part appeared, fans and critics unanimously said: "Welcome back, Batman." "The Dark Knight", the actors of which completely disappeared into their roles, became a worthy continuation of the first part.

As such, there was no casting for the main role of the man-bat. A friend of the director - Christian Bale - has long expressed a desire to participate in a realistic version of "Batman". He sent Chris his audition and, despite the fact that the actor was not in the best physical shape, he was accepted due to his charisma and talent.

In the summer of 2005, Batman fans immersed themselves in the realistic beginning of his story. Cash receipts exceeded all expectations of the creators. After several weeks of rental, it became clear that the continuation of the story would be released.

The Dark Knight Plot

Christopher Nolan never signs on long-term projects. In the situation with "Batman" he did the same. Exactly a year there were negotiations about his participation in the sequel to the picture. Exactly one year later, the director returned to the film and brought to history not only an original vision, but also a new name - "The Dark Knight". The actors in the continuation of the story remained the same, but Mr. Nolan brought the main highlight with him. For the role of the Joker, the main antagonist of the picture, he chose Heath Ledger, motivating his decision with an absolutethe fearlessness of an actor.

In the second part, the plot was no less intricate and realistic. Batman continues to eradicate crime in his hometown, but instead of a long-awaited rest, he gets absolute chaos, which provides an asocial psychopath Joker.

"The Dark Knight": actors and roles

In the sequel to the picture of Batman, a good cast was selected. The fearless Christian Bale remained in the role of the main superhero, but Heath Ledger nevertheless became the "highlight of the program". The actor who played the Joker in The Dark Knight captured the audience's attention from the very first frames of the film thanks to his charisma.

In the second part of the picture, the role of Rachel was played by Maggie Gyllenhaal. Harry Oldman, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Cillian Murphy returned to their former heroes. Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent.

Gorgeous Joker

In 1989, Jack Nicholson played the role of the Joker in one of the adaptations of "Batman", but his hero, although he was a villain, ultimately seemed to the audience a crazy good-natured man. No one could say that about Heath Ledger's Joker. After the first takes of filming, some of the actors from the make-up and the feeling of madness emanating from this character completely forgot the text. It happened on the first day of filming The Dark Knight. The Joker (actor Heath Ledger) was made up so heavily that he was completely unrecognizable. For his role, he prepared more than carefully. In order to feel the inner essence of Batman's main enemy, Mr. Ledger lived inhotel and hardly interacted with people.

In the film "The Dark Knight" the actors got used to their roles to the maximum and splashed out the whole range of emotions on the screens, but the character of the Joker became the key in this picture. Unfortunately, Heath Ledger was found dead in his room on January 22, 2008 and was unable to enjoy the end result of his work. Viewers will remember him as an outstanding young actor.

The Dark Knight Rises

Immediately after the release of the second part and the first box office success, it became clear to the producers and fans of the film that the third part was not far off. In 2011, the filming of the final film about the adventures of Bruce Wayne began. Rumors about a storyline and new characters for The Dark Knight Rises have flooded the internet. Actors and roles excited fans of the franchise the most. After all, it was not known who would be the main antagonist of the picture. Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have joined the already familiar cast.

The plot was kept in the strictest confidence, and the director verbally laid out the concept of the triquel's ending to the actors.

After eight years of seclusion and disappearance from Gotham, Batman returns to take on a new villain, Mr. Bane. Bane is bloodthirsty, merciless and strong. Mr. Wayne had never had such an adversary. Not only will the hero have to fight him, but also to overcome hisinner fears.

The picture was released on the big screens on July 16, 2012.

Reviews from critics and viewers

The franchise received mostly positive reviews from film critics. Christopher Nolan's directorial work has brought him to the level with the best filmmakers on the planet. Surprising is the fact that, despite the favor of movie connoisseurs, Nolan did not receive an Oscar for this franchise.

The Batman trilogy was so enthusiastically received by the audience that the film grossed more than $2.5 billion at the box office. The second and third parts of the film were recognized as one of the most anticipated and box office films in the history of cinema.

Of all three parts of the picture, the second one, "The Dark Knight", was especially popular. The actors of the film epic are so immersed in their characters that the public today calls this part the most successful of the Batman stories.

Awards, nominations, awards

All three paintings have collected a huge number of awards and prizes. The first film was nominated for "Oscar" in only one category - for the best cinematography. But the second part became the owner of many golden figurines. The film "The Dark Knight", the actors of which are distinguished by absolute dedication, received critical acclaim from the Academy in two categories: "Best Editing" and Heath Ledger received a posthumous statuette for "Best Supporting Actor". All three films were nominees and winners of almost all British and American films.film ratings.
