Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theater was founded relatively recently. However, its history is quite interesting. The group here is very large. The basis of the repertoire is classical works.

History

The Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater has existed since 1931. It was headed by the actor and director L. A. Lazarev. Initially, it was a musical comedy theater. His repertoire included classical operettas as well as modern musical comedy performances. The main task of the theater was to entertain the working people. The artists worked at a very high level. As a result, the performances were a great success. In 1958, the Voronezh Opera and Ballet Theater traveled to Moscow with a creative report. The audience and the musical community of the capital highly appreciated it. During these tours, the composer T. Khrennikov made a proposal to reorganize the theater. He proposed to make it musical, that is, that in addition to operettas, operas and ballets should also be staged in it. In 1960, the reorganization took place. The first opera staged at the Voronezh musical theater was Eugene Onegin. The first ballet is Swan Lake. In 1968the theater has been renamed. He still bears this name. It is called the Voronezh State Opera and Ballet Theatre.
