About the Opera and Ballet Theater

The Opera and Ballet Theater (Nizhny Novgorod) opened in 1935. The formative years fell on the controversial Stalinist era. Then there was a war and a period of difficult return to civilian life. In the 60-70s of the last century, it became the center of the cultural life of the city. In addition to masterpieces of world classics, the repertoire includes works by Soviet composers A. Rybnikov, T. Khrennikov, S. Prokofiev, A. Petrov, A. Khachaturian and others.
