One of the newest and noisiest performances recently staged by Lenkom is Walpurgis Night. Actors, director and author - this is the stellar cast of the theater. You can learn about the features of this production from the article.
New season
Increasingly, modern performances cause a lot of different reviews from the audience. The work of one of the leading directors of our time, Mark Zakharov, also made a lot of noise. His name is familiar to almost every fan of culture. This man has long tied his fate with the Theater. Lenin Komsomol, better known to a wide range of people as Lenkom. And it was within its walls that a new performance appeared.
The content of the performance "Walpurgis Night" is a kind of mixture of brilliant stories by Venedikt Erofeev. The production consists of several works by the author.
On the stage, such outstanding literary masterpieces were combined: "Moscow - Petushki", "Notes of a Psychopath" and "Walpurgis Night". The latter gave the name to the theatrical production. Additionally, the writer's diaries are used to help reveal the director's intention.
Subtleties of the plot
Zakharov himself admits that the ideato put a collage of the works of Erofeev was completely accidental. And this is not surprising, because the style of this author barely fits into the framework of the theater game. Critics say that the main actor Igor Mirkurbanov played a decisive role in the question of whether to stage this performance or not. The director was sure that this artist would perfectly show the wide soul of the leading character.
There is no plot as such. The story tells about Venechka Erofeev, a man with a broad soul and bright intellect, who is driven into the narrow world of his country. The philosopher has no outlet for energy, and he turns into an alcoholic. This is the image of a kind of fallen angel who, despite everything, continues to love his homeland.
The production is rich in dialogues and sincere conversations. The barmaid Zinochka, an indifferent psychiatrist and casual acquaintances become interlocutors of the protagonist.
Profanity issue
About the performance, the audience leave different reviews. “Lenkom” (“Walpurgis Night” confirms the following idea) loves and knows how to amaze, and sometimes forces you to criticize.
One of the unpleasant moments, because of which the performance receives negative ratings, is profanity. For many people, the theater is a temple of wisdom and culture. And obscenities and vulgar words spoil both literature and society itself - this is what dissatisfied viewers say. They complain that people go to the hall for positive, bright emotions, and in return they receive "dirt" and obscenity. Moreover, half of the audience can watch the picture of drunkenness, madness and garbage every day for free.on the streets of your city.
In general, people who don't like to hear swearing from the stage got two impressions. The play “Walpurgis Night” (“Lenkom”) brings a lot of negativity!
Supporters of the work say that it is impossible to imagine this production without swearing. But those who are not accustomed to such innovations should choose another performance. And, accordingly, children should not be taken to Walpurgis Night, and indeed to Yerofeev’s works in general.
Unique style
It should not be forgotten that Venedikt Erofeev got his fame thanks to an extraordinary manner of writing and the use of obscene words in his works. Talk about whether this style is appropriate on the theater stage has not subsided so far.
The theater tries not to take negative reviews seriously. "Lenkom" ("Walpurgis Night" absolutely justifies the main idea) is trying to convey to the audience the veracity of the situation. And thanks to obscene language, the performance became emotional and bright. The audience explodes with applause after almost every strong word.
There is another reason why the writers didn't remove the swear words from the text. The authors tried to stick to the original. Unfortunately, the Russian language is not so broad as to successfully and reliably replace all the three-story mats that the writer used. Without these turns, the work would have seemed insipid and uninteresting, the guests note.
Forking lines
From-for a fresh approach to productions, the theater often receives negative reviews. "Lenkom" ("Walpurgis Night" is a sure proof of this) is a place for an experiment.
Another negative point is that humor is designed for a certain age category and taste. Not every viewer, especially young people, understands the comical nature of the situation - after all, a lot of emphasis is placed on the theme of the Soviet Union. Therefore, those who did not live in the USSR may not perceive the undisguised irony.
Bright humor in the performance is intertwined with sincere dialogues, from which sore topics arise. Viewers are offered three lines. The first is political. Despite the fact that they talk about the Union from the stage, the ideas considered in the play are very relevant for today. The second story is love. However, it is ambiguous and often makes viewers wonder who the protagonist preferred. The third line is the theme of the Russian soul.
The work of actors
The acting deserves thunderous applause - the audience share. The actors so skillfully got used to the role that the guests of the theater even forget where they are. The main male role is played by Igor Mirkurbanov. And often the audience has the idea that they see Alexander Abdulov on stage. Igor skillfully keeps the attention of the audience on himself and knows how to turn in a given direction. His zest, say the audience, is that the man seems to be familiar to everyone and he does not address the audience, but to one sitting in the hall.
The main female role belongs to the People's Artist of Russia Alexandra Zakharova. This is the talented daughter of the aforementioned director, who is perfectly familiar with her father's style and can clearly implement his ideas on stage. Therefore, it seems that some characters are written specifically for this actress. Here she again perfectly gets used to the role of a sad clowness.
In the best tradition
The role of an indifferent psychiatrist belongs to another people's artist Viktor Verzhbitsky. He managed to combine comedy and detachment in his image. Sergey Stepanchenko and Dmitry Gizbrekht play no less lively, who got the roles of short-sighted and narrow-minded fellow travelers.
Watching the performance, you can understand how much effort and energy the actors spent. They perfectly got used to the difficult images and fascinated the audience with their colossal work.
Almost always about the game of theater actors leave good reviews. Lenkom, whose Walpurgis Night was staged in the best traditions of this hall, is waiting for new connoisseurs of its work.
The stage is rather poorly decorated. There are no luxurious and expensive decorations on it, but light plays a big role here. It is set up in such a way that, in accordance with the scene, the actors go over to the side of "good" or "evil". Electric wires are strung over the platform. Red prevails.
On the verge of two genres
Fans of Venedikt Erofeev's work are especially pleased with the named production, because they feel the handwriting of their favorite writer and at the same time enjoy the new plot.
In general, this performance, according to the guests, is something between a philosophical drama and a life comedy.
The only thing that the audience strongly recommends is to at least superficially familiarize yourself with the work of Venedikt Erofeev. If you like his works, then you can safely buy theater tickets. If not, it is better to choose another production and not attend the performance of Mark Zakharov.
