History accompanies man everywhere. It is this science, directly or indirectly, that is the basis of many humanitarian branches. Linguistics is no exception, partly thanks to the scientist and professor Gennady Grinevich.
Education and becoming
The future linguist was born on September 22, 1938 in the capital, at that time, the USSR. At the age of 18, Grinevich entered the Faculty of Geology at Moscow State University. There, the young man became interested in history, since the science of the earth is closely connected with the study of past events. After graduation, Gennady Stanislavovich was sent to Chukotka, where he was engaged in the assessment and search for minerals, and also investigated the quality of the earth's crust of the area. Later he was transferred to continue his activities in the Irkutsk region, but already as the head of geological work. At the age of 37, the man took up the study of linguistics. The basis of the new hobby was the love for historical monuments of culture. In particular, to written sources, since geology, history and linguistics are interconnected.
Excavation results
Many discoveries were made in the course of geological work. As finds, letters were found in ancient languages, in particular, on runes. As it turned out later, such artifacts belonged to the Western Slavs many centuries ago. Later, Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich went on an expedition outside his native state. The scientist worked on the islands of Greece, studied the ancient civilization on the territory of modern Italy, and also studied the material monuments of the culture of India and the East.
Own theory
Having done such a great job and gained experience, Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich systematized the acquired knowledge about the writing of the Slavs and compiled a single table for deciphering ancient inscriptions. The scientist put forward the theory that many written cultural monuments are made in the "proto-Slavic style". That is, after analyzing the data on finds from different countries, Gennady Stanislavovich revealed certain similarities.
Gennady Grinevich and Proto-Slavic writing
The scientist refers to this hypothesis:
- Danube archetype. This term refers to clay tablets found on the territory of Romania and Bulgaria. The object contains undeciphered inscriptions, drawings of animals and sketches of everyday life scenes. Terterian writings date back to the 5th millennium BC.
- Script of the Indus Valley. The letters found in this area have not yet been deciphered. The complexity of the text ishieroglyphic use of symbols. The captions are short sentences. But there is no single interpretation, since many scientists offer their own versions of the meanings of symbols. The find dates back to the 15th century BC.
- Cretan inscriptions. These artifacts are made in different styles. For example, the oldest type of writing was found - Linear A. Later, this type was supplanted by a new letter B. Unfortunately, the writing is not subject to decipherment. It is only known that a later version of the letter became the basis for the emergence of the ancient Greek language. The Phaistos Disc also belongs to the Cretan inscriptions. The artifact is a large circle with inscriptions and symbols. Some scientists doubt the authenticity of this item, considering it a fake. The finds date back to the 20th century BC.
- Reminders of the Etruscan language. This dialect is considered extinct, but a large number of ancient finds contain symbols belonging to this dialect. Many scientists are engaged in decoding the meanings of the symbols of the language, restoring the grammatical and lexical components. The first data on the language appeared in the 8th century BC.
The phrase "Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich - books" can be called an inextricable chain, since the scientist expressed hypotheses and assumptions through his own publications.
Opponents of the Proto-Slavic theory
But the scientific community does not accept such a theory. Many do not agree that the artifacts found are based on Proto-Slavic writing. Therefore, some scientists do not recognize the theories of Gennady Stanislavovich as scientific and classify them as pseudoscience. The scientist himself considers himself an amateur linguist.
Not only science, but also the community of the Slavic faith is negatively disposed to the hypotheses of Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich. The participants accuse the scientist of speculation and unfair interpretation of the Proto-Slavic signs. The Union of Slavic Neo-Pagans also opposes the works of Grinevich, considering them pseudoscientific.
Many scientists are looking for answers to questions of antiquity and a single solution to the interpretation of symbols of different cultures. It was not possible to come to one version, but each theory is put forward on the basis of research. Perhaps, after many years, the scientific community will reconsider its views on the Proto-Slavic writing and appreciate the works of the scientist. Even without outside support, Grinevich Gennady Stanislavovich has already contributed to the development of geology and linguistics.
