Cold batik is a fabric painting technique that uses a special reserve composition that limits the spreading of special paints on the surface of the material. Hand-painted fabric has been valued at all times. and therefore this type of art is in demand and popularity.

Cold batik is based on the fact that all forms of the picture have a contour closed stroke. This technique gives a peculiar look and character to the pattern. To apply contour lines to the fabric, use a special glass tube. It has a thin curved end and a reservoir that is closer to the working part. The latter is a thickening of a spherical shape and serves to set the reserve composition. The walls of the bent end of the tube must be thin, since the width of the contour depends on the diameter of the hole and on the thickness of the tube itself.

What is needed foractivities

1. Acrylic or water-soluble paints. The former are more like gouache - these are top coats. And water-soluble is good to use for delicate and thin fabrics. There are also paints that are fixed with an iron.

2. Outlines can be bought in the same place as paints. They come in a variety of colors, as well as effects - with sparkles or with a pearly sheen. The contour can be done at home.

3. A glass tube is useful for applying a contour (reserving composition) to the fabric. The smaller the diameter, the thinner the applied line will be.

4. Buttons will be needed in order to stretch the fabric on a special frame. For silk and other delicate fabrics, it is better to use either buttons with a thin point or special three-pronged ones.

How to make cold batik and what to look out for

For a high-quality circuit, the angle of inclination of the reserve tube is of great importance - 135 degrees. If it is held at a more obtuse angle, then the pressure of the reserve composition will increase. And this threatens with unexpected spreading of liquid over the surface of the tissue. Drops may occur at the beginning of the line and in areas of slower movement. For this reason, the tube should be guided evenly, and at the beginning of work it should be lowered without delay onto the fabric so that a drop does not form.

Cold batik is not an easy task. Therefore, taking the tube away from the surface of the tissue, it is turned upside down with its spout, after which the reserve composition leavesout of it.

In this case, the other end of the batik tube should be slightly raised. This is necessary so that the composition does not spill. After the outline is drawn, the drawing is allowed to dry.

It is worth considering that within twenty-four hours the reserve liquid on the fabric should dry well.

Filling parts of the picture can be done with brushes, cotton swabs or tubes.

In this case, it is worth paying attention to the fact that both small and large areas are evenly covered with paint. Otherwise, they will be of a different tone, or stains will appear on them.

Cold batik, a master class on which is presented in this article, is an exciting activity. Thanks to him, you can create beautiful and unique products.
