Since the appearance of the first animated films, cartoon animals have become the main characters in them. The childhood of generations and generations of Soviet children passed in anticipation of the next cartoon collections that were shown in cinemas in the morning and afternoon, and the program "Good night, kids!" only then was it considered "watchable" if, after a short dialogue between the presenter and the puppets, a cartoon was shown.
Animated or animated films are divided into drawing and puppet films by technique, later plasticine was added to this technique. But the main aesthetic credo of animation is convention. Moreover, cartoons were not always made for children, nevertheless, traditionally they are perceived as a children's genre of cinema, and the main characters in them are cartoon animals. Pictures with them were printed on the covers of notebooks, bookmarks, calendars, postcards. Many even collected collections with certain cartoon characters.
And, probably, even now such collectors will have photos of funny animals that have become the main charactersanimated films. If you build a hit parade of cartoon animals, each viewer will probably have their own priorities. Undoubtedly, one of the most popular cartoon characters throughout the post-Soviet space was the Wolf from "Well, you wait!" Children were looking forward to the release of new episodes, retold and discussed them, which is not surprising. But a hooligan wolf was much more popular than an exemplary hare. Director V. Kotenochkin's attempt to reconcile these heroes almost failed - the viewer did not accept such a turn of the plot! The actors who voiced the main characters made their huge contribution. Cartoon animals spoke with the voices of Clara Rumyanova and Anatoly Papanov.
Another "hit" of Soviet animation was the series about Prostokvashino. Moreover, people in this cartoon coexist quite on an equal footing with animals, which have also become an inseparable part of culture in the post-Soviet space. The remarks of the cat Matroskin (Oleg Tabakov) went to the people, becoming popular expressions, and they are pronounced precisely with the intonation of the cartoon character. The dog Sharik, speaking in the voice of Lev Durov, is also a character not only recognizable, but super popular.
Continuing the theme of cats in the cartoon, one cannot help but recall the cat Leopold with his "Let's live together." But still, the most popular cat in the world of animation is Disney's Tom from Tom and Jerry. And, of course, it was thanks to W alt Disney that cartoon animals became iconic characters in popular culture. In addition to the mentioned Tom and Jerry, of course, you need to start withanother mouse - Mickey Mouse, in fact, from which it all began.
It is then that the Disney studio will turn into a huge empire, a factory for the production of not only animated films, but also feature films, entertainment towns around the world. And before that there were cartoon animals: Dumbo the elephant, Bambi the deer, Chip and Dale the chipmunks - the list goes on.
Hungary cartoonists brought their charming and popular little animals into the world: the Pannonia film studio created Vuk's little fox. And in Czechoslovakia they filmed a series about a funny mole.
What will today's animators offer to modern children? Time will tell.
