Surely many people know the name P altrow. But Gwyneth is not the only actress in the family. In addition to the famous beauty, her father, Bruce P altrow, also starred in the movie. Of course, his name did not flash on the big screen so often, but in America this person is known as a talented director and screenwriter, who was closely involved in well-known TV shows on ABC, NBC, SBC, MTM. Learn how Bruce managed to become famous from our article.
Birth and childhood
Bruce P altrow was born on November 26, 1943 in Brooklyn (New York). The boy was quite an active child who was very fond of climbing onto the table and reciting poems out loud.
His ambition to become an artist came true in the fifties. For the first time, Bruce appeared on the stage of the theater during his school years. The boy's future was already predetermined. He began his career in one of the local theaters in Brooklyn. During the sixties he was fully engaged in theatrical activities. The audience lovedhim and always applauded him after the performance.
First steps on television
In the early 70s, Bruce P altrow tried to break into TV. He first tried himself in the field of writing scripts. It should be noted that the debut was successful, so Bruce decided not to stop there. Later he was invited to write screenplays for Screen Gems.
Follow-up projects
Subsequently, Bruce P altrow became the director of The White Shadow (“White Shadow”), broadcast on CBS from 1978 to 1981. The next task was to write the text for the TV series St. Elsewhere. The picture was broadcast on NBC from 1982 to 1988.
In 1973, Bruce began writing the script for the Shirts/Skins project. The film was shown on ABC. The film was about six entrepreneurs who turned their weekly basketball game into a "hide and find" game. The text for the show-series "White Shadow" was written on the same topic. In this case, the story was about a former basketball player who became the coach of an African-American high school team.
It's worth mentioning that this is the first drama aired on public television to focus on black people. The show consisted of 58 episodes. It was one of the longest-running series on American television after the famous Black Kitchen and The Wire.
Work on the MTM channel
After successful debuts, Bruce P altrow continues to writetexts for ABC and NBC channels. Then he is invited as an executive producer on the MTM channel. This time the project is called St. Elsewhere. The story tells about one of the Boston hospitals, where interns are trained. This series was broadcast on the MTM channel and received recognition from the audience.
Later, Bruce P altrow, whose biography is described in detail in our article, no longer wanted to engage in projects that were not commercially successful. But he is again offered to work on the series Tattinger's. Bruce has to move to New York. The picture was shot in 1988 in one of the Manhattan cafes. Each series included incidental situations in which the main characters fell. It is impossible not to mention the stellar cast - Mary Beth Hart, Blythe Danner, Stefan Collins and Jerry Stiller.
At first, the audience really liked the series, but after six months, the ratings began to fall sharply. Bruce immediately decided to give his work a second life, tweaking the script a bit and giving it a new name - Nick & Hillary. But here, too, P altrow expected failure, the idea failed.
Big movie. "Killer" and "Duets"
After the first disappointment, Bruce returns to writing the script for the comedy series Home Fires, which was released on NBC in 1992. This was followed by work on a project called The Road Home. In this case, Bruce is the producer. The story follows Karen Allen as he returns with his family to rural life in Northern California.
The next successful work was the series "Slaughter Department", in which Bruce acted as a co-producer. The project was broadcast on television from 1993 to 1999. The audience really liked it, which is why it lasted for such a long time.
The story tells about Detective Giardell, who, together with his team, investigates various crimes. In addition to the murders, the love line is also affected in the picture.
Actor's personal life
Bruce P altrow and Blythe Danner met on the set of Tattinger's and have never parted since. In marriage, they have a daughter, Gwyneth P altrow, and a son, Jake P altrow (American director).
It should be noted that Bruce's relationship with children was just wonderful. In particular, this applies to the daughter of Gwyneth. The father doted on his girl, was proud of her established career and ability to get used to any role.
Bruce's death
Unfortunately, Bruce P altrow is no longer among us. He died in 2002, on October 3, from complications he had suffered from pneumonia and cancer of the larynx. At this time, he was relaxing with his daughter in Rome at one of the resorts. The family celebrated Gwyneth's 30th birthday. Bruce was only 58 years old.
After P altrow's death, his wife Blythe became involved in a charity event helping cancer patients. The woman also created a foundation named after him, which focuses on cancer in the United States of America.
It should be noted that Chris Martin ("Coldplay") in 2003 married Bruce's daughter, and in 2006 releasedan album called X & Y. One of the songs - Fix You - he dedicated to Gwyneth's father. According to the mother of the actress, the composition was originally written for her lover, but later Chris changed his mind in order to perpetuate the memory of the talented director and screenwriter.
