The problem of poor academic performance has been around since the first schools. Often, teachers superficially evaluate children who do not work well in the classroom and do not do homework. A vivid example of bias in relation to lagging schoolchildren is the characterization of Sevka Mymrikov, the hero of the work of G. Kulikov.

Who is Mymrikov

Sevka is a classic loser and a headache for teachers. Mymrikov does not do his homework, does not participate in social activities, misses excursions. Even comrades in the pioneer detachment believe that it is useless to re-educate him. Until the last page, the intrigue remains: who will pull whom over to their side. Will Sevka recover?or will his boss become a loser?

Kostya Gorokhov

The complete opposite of Mymrikov, a quiet straight-A student who spends his time reading books. The only child, carefully guarded by parents and grandmother. Kostya is a living encyclopedia, he can resolve a dispute about the authorship of a work or please the teacher with knowledge beyond the curriculum. It was he, as an excellent student and a pioneer, who was instructed to take Mymrikov seriously.

Kostya is the opposite of Sevka. And this gives special interest to their interaction. Gorokhov has to come up with various tricks to find an approach to the lazy person, but he himself becomes a victim of his cunning. And at this moment, the characterization of Sevka Mymrikov becomes deeper.

Iceberg Man

As with an iceberg, most of it is hidden under water, so with the loser Mymrikov, his main human qualities are invisible. The plot develops unexpectedly: the excellent student Kostya is on the same team with Seva and they change places. A good hockey player Mymrikov helps a weak and inept player Gorokhov. However, here the author is preparing a surprise. Having become the captain of the team, Sevka shows herself in all her glory. The hope of re-educating him becomes illusory. The episode culminates in Mymrikov framing Gorokhov, blaming him for his serious misconduct.

Despite the fact that the characterization of Sevka Mymrikov seems very clear, the plot takes another unexpected turn and everything ends well. Geomar Georgievich's book reminds us that you can't judge peoplesuperficial and jump to conclusions.
