It is unlikely that any of the lovers of humor and satire does not know such a wonderful author and pop performer as Izmailov. True, there is one "but": Lion Moiseevich works exclusively for an intelligent public. No one has ever heard from the lips of the artist and did not see foul language in his works, which has recently become a fashionable trend on TV.
Lion Izmailov: biography facts
Surname Izmailov is the pseudonym of the artist, his real name is Polyak (emphasis on "o"). The future satirist was born in Moscow on May 5, 1940 in the family of a builder and an employee. The sad event in his life was the death of his father, when Lyon was three years old. The upbringing of the boy fell entirely on the shoulders of the mother. By the seventh grade, he was a straight A student, but later his interest in studies faded, and Lyon began to get involved in the natural sciences.
By his education, Lion Izmailov is a techie: after school, he studied at an aviation technical school and successfully graduated from it in 1960. After that, he worked for 2 years at an aircraft factory, and then entered the MAI (Moscow Aircraft Engine Institute), after which, in 1968, he was awarded a design engineer diploma.
Izmailov's creative path: how did the artist and future celebrity take place
At MAI, Lyon began to participate in amateur performances, at the same time, Alexander Levenbuk, with whom they wrote several stories together, coined the pseudonym Izmailov, which meant "from MAI", but everyone pronounced Izmailov - that's how it stuck.
He made his first professional stage performance in 1979. From the same year, Lion Moiseevich became a member of the Writers' Union of the USSR.
The satirist wrote a number of works together with other authors. He signed the things written by him alone with his real name - Polyak, and joint things - Lion Izmailov. Anecdotes invented by him are considered by many to be folk, not knowing the true author. The comedian has released a whole collection called "Selected jokes from Lion Izmailov."
Since 1968, when the satirist had just started writing for pop singers, he worked with V. Narinsky, E. Popov and V. Orlov. He wrote many things for the performances of his theater with V. Chudodeev. He also fruitfully collaborated with A. Levenbuk, Yu. Volovich and others.
Demanded writer
Lovers of humor and satire have long fallen in love with Lion Izmailov. Monologues written by him are sung by many comedians such as:
- G. Khazanov.
- E. Petrosyan.
- E. Shifrin.
- B. Distiller.
- S. Rozhkova and many others.
Since 1969, the writer began to publish in the "Literaturnaya gazeta", under the heading "Club of 12 chairs", being since then its regular author. In 1970, Lion Moiseevich took place as a professional writer. The author's repertoire includes such publicly-loved monologues as:
- "Abroad".
- "Life will show."
- "Beer".

- "Funny Laws" and many others.
"Liverpool the Frog" is a humorous story for children created by Lion Izmailov. "Lukomorye" - a story also designed for a children's audience.
TV activities
Izmailov has been involved in television since 1972, was the author of the programs “Our Neighbors”, “Artloto”, wrote miniatures for “Zucchini 13 Chairs”, acted as a presenter (in the 1990s he led the “Show Dossier”and“Jester with us”, and in 2003 -“Funny people”). He repeatedly performed his works on the stage of the programs “Around Laughter” and “Full House”. The writer not only collaborates with the creative team of the latter, but also sometimes goes on vacation, where, of course, he cannot do without practical jokes. So, one summer on the Sochi coast, Lion Moiseevich played a prank on Regina Dubovitskaya, who drank coffee in a beach cafe and calmly joined her sunbathing colleagues. Without thinking twice, the comedian went into the radio room and persuaded the girl there to say in a strict voice the phrase he had invented: “Regina Dubovitskaya! Please go back to the cafe and pay the bill!” Regina, hearing this, immediatelyjumped up and shouted that she had paid for everything. The pranksters rolled on the ground laughing.
In 1992, the artist's solo performances on TV were recorded: "Creative Evening" and "Evening of Jokes". The stories of Lyon Izmailov have a subtle humorous meaning and are relevant, and the author himself feels the viewer and skillfully presents his material.
Theatrical creativity of the satirist
In 1989, Lion Izmailov organized his own comedy theater "Plus" (artistic director). In a short period, a number of performances were played in the theater:

- An Evening of Jokes (1991).
- "Parodists go ahead!" (1992).

Grushevsky, the author-coupletist V. Dabuzhsky. Famous pop playwrights V. Koklyushkin and L. Novozhenov take part in performances.
Private life of a humorist
Lion Moiseevich is married to Elena Petrovna Sorokina, whom he met thanks to his wit. Here is how it was. After resting in the south, he, fresh and tanned, walked with Boris Brainin along Mira Avenue to the Journalist store. And then he told his friend that he could easily get acquainted with any girl on a dare, and asked the interlocutor to come up with a phrase with which he would start acquaintance. Boris is heresuggested: “Did they bring Feuerbach to you?” They entered the store, there was a pretty saleswoman behind the counter. Lion Izmailov approached her and asked a question in a whisper. The girl was frightened and said that they had not yet delivered, but offered to take her phone number. The artist began to call Elena often, and then married her.
However, at first, not everything went smoothly in the Izmailov family: three years after the marriage, he and his wife divorced because they could not get along. But after a while, they nevertheless realized that they could not live without each other and signed again.
