Count Dooku (the Sith version of the name is Darth Tyranus) is one of the fictional characters in the Star Wars saga. Considered the last of the twenty Masters who voluntarily retired from the Jedi Order. After accepting the Dark Side, he became a student of Darth Sidious. He led the Confederation of Independent Systems and organized the separatist movement. Killed by Skywalker at the age of 83.

Childhood

Dooku was born to an Count on the planet Serenno. Almost immediately, he was taken to the Jedi Temple for training. Master Yoda became Dooku's teacher, and after reaching the age of 13, the boy became a Padawan to Tam Serulian. There was great potential in the young man, and Tam raised him into a strong Jedi. Serulian also instilled in Dooku an interest in history and politics.

The young earl had several friends: Iro Iridian, Senator Blix Annon's aide, and youngling Lorian Nod. Subsequently, they betrayed Dooku, and in the future he feared friendship and affection. Once with Lorian, the young earl found notes about the Sith holocron from his teacher. Nod tried to talk Dooku into stealing the tapes, but the latter refused. Then Lorian stole them on his own and shifted all the blame to the young count. The lie was quickly revealed, Nod was kicked out ofOrders.

After a while, Serulian realized that Count Dooku had adopted all the knowledge he had. The young Jedi was taken up by Yoda himself, who had not taken Padawans for many years. And if Tam honed the mind of the young count, then Yoda helped him master swordsmanship to perfection. Only a few masters of the Order could boast of such a skill.

Master and Knight

At the age of 20, Dooku received a knighthood and immediately took Qui-Gon as a Padawan. Together with a newly minted student, he went to the defense of Senator Blix Anon. The senator was accompanied by an old friend of the count - Iro Iridian. They all fell into Lorian Nod's trap and were captured. Things got even more complicated when Blix died of a heart attack. Iridian, who was in cahoots with Nod, panicked. The Count and his apprentice took advantage of this panic and started a fight with the pirates. They managed to break free. The last obstacle was Lorian Nod. But the sword of Count Dooku was much stronger, Nod was defeated. Only the intervention of a student helped Lorian stay alive. At the same time, Iridian surrendered the Jedi to Nod's droids. After such a betrayal, the Count never made close friends again.

Leaving the order

Thor Vizsla, head of the Death Watch, sent a false message to the Temple that the Mandalorians were killing political activists on the planet Galidraan. Dooku, along with Komari and other Jedi, was sent to deal with this problem. Upon arrival, they themselves had to fight the Mandalorians.

This battle and disappearanceKomari forced the Count to reconsider his own views on serving the Jedi Order. The final straw was the murder of his apprentice Qui-Gon. And one of the brightest characters in the Star Wars saga - Count Dooku - voluntarily left the Order, deciding that he blindly submits to the authority of the Senate.

Back on Serenno, he received a hereditary title, and a few years later became one of the richest people in the galaxy. Hiding behind his own influence, Dooku began to comprehend power as the Dark Lord of the Sith.

Sith Apprentice

Having embraced the dark side of the force, the Count became the Padawan of Darth Sidious, the most powerful character in the Star Wars saga, also known as Senator Palpatine. Dooku began to implement Darth's plan to destroy the Jedi Order, but he did it in secret, without revealing himself. This went on for eight years.

By the way, the Earl had regular contact with Palpatine while still in the Jedi Order. And Dooku's frustration with the Senate and the Jedi was well known to Sidious. Gradually their eyes converged, and the earl joined Dart. As an entry fee, he offered Sidious a sacrifice - his old friend, Master Sifo-Dyas.

Creating Grievous

For a long time, Count Dooku has been looking for forces that would help him split the Republic. Sidious ordered him to recruit General Grievous, who worked for the Intergalactic Banking Clan.

Grievous was known to refuse to volunteer for the Separatist movement. But Dooku was ready forthis turn of events and ordered to plant a bomb in his ship. Grievous was severely crippled, and the Count convinced him that it was the fault of the Jedi. After that, the general was taken to Geonosis and made a new body for him, turning him into a cyborg. When Grievous recovered, Dooku gave him Sifo-Dyas's lightsaber and taught him the basics of swordsmanship. The Count was very pleased, because he got a general who controls the army of droids and wants only one thing - to take revenge on the Jedi.

Character traits and personality

Dooku was a charismatic leader, an excellent warrior, politician, orator and philosopher. He could use both the Dark and Light side of the Force equally well. Yoda himself classified him as one of his best students, although he considered the Sith his biggest failure.

Count Dooku, whose photo is attached to the article, experienced a fierce hatred for non-humanoid races. For him, the Galaxy was divided into two parts: "Active" and "Threat". The "Active" included all the creatures useful to the graph that helped him achieve his goals. All the others belonged to the "Threat" group. If Dooku identified someone as an enemy, then that creature was immediately sentenced to death.

When the Count was a Jedi, arrogance and prejudice were alien to him, but with the transition to the Dark Side, these character traits began to manifest themselves most clearly. He sincerely believed that if the Jedi Order were to embrace the dark side, they could rule the galaxy without any Senate. As a Sith, he wanted to lure all supporters of the Light side to hisarmy.

Powers and abilities

Count Dooku was a master swordsman. He knew 7 forms of fencing, although he mastered only one style - Makashi. When the clone wars were going on, only two masters could fight with swords on equal terms with him - Mans Windu and Yoda. Although the 3rd, 4th and 5th forms were much more useful and practical, Dooku aimed to develop the 2nd form of swordsmanship.

It was based on ways of opposing sword to sword. The acrobatic tricks of the 4th form annoyed the count, and the 2nd was the only means to crush other styles. Makashi's form was meant for fighting with one opponent, but Dooku developed his skill to the point where he could easily take on 4-5 opponents at the same time.

The transition to the dark side only strengthened his swordsmanship. Despite his advanced age (80 years), the Count was in good physical condition and could perform acrobatic stunts and accelerations beyond the ability of young Jedi. Using the aggression of the Sith to enhance his style, Dooku hoped to defeat Master Yoda, but he did not take into account the old master's great speed. The count fled the battlefield and devoted the next three years to hard training.

The battle over Coruscant was the last for the count. Skywalker used an aggressive variant of his 5th form in the fight, eliminating all defensive styles. The Sith simply did not have the strength to repel Anakin's powerful blows, which led to his death. And Count Dooku's lightsaber went to an opponent. • WoIn the 2nd and 3rd parts of the Star Wars saga, the role of the Sith was played by Christopher Lee. Due to the latter's advanced age, Kyle Rowling's body was used in the fight scenes, and Lee's head was "attached" using computer technology.
• The name Dooku comes from the Japanese Doku (translated as poison). Due to the dissonance in the Portuguese language, it was changed to "Dukan". And the Sith version of the name "Tyranus" came from the Greek "tyrant" - a dictator.
