"Wave your wings!": reviews of the cartoon (2014)

The animation genre is best mastered by the Hollywood movie empire. Agree, the land of dreams is a leader in the production of not only full-fledged films, but also children's cartoons, the creation of which requires patience and many months of painstaking preparation. Other foreign colleagues cannot yet boast of the same success. Nevertheless, bypassing the main competitors, the French filmmakers took a chance by presenting a new animated work called “Fly your wings!” to the audience. Whether they managed to conquer young viewers and their parents, let's try to find out.

Heavenly idea

Relatively new French film company Compagnie Cinématographique boasts several feature films of various genres released since its inception. But animation is a completely new genre for her. In 2013, screenwriters Antoine Barrault and Corey Edwards showed the management a draft script for the future project. The plot revolved aroundone small bird, represented by a kind of slob, always shabby, but, as practice has shown, incredibly brave, able to rise to the heavenly heights.

How this idea could attract viewers remained unclear. But the cartoon, as if enlisting moral support, received a very symbolic name - “Flap your wings!”. Feedback from the audience was yet to be received. Only time and recognition (or non-recognition) by the public could give a clear answer to the question: what did the company lose and what did it win recognition for. After all, the prestige of a new film company on the market was at stake, so high hopes were pinned on the cartoon. And the company began to work on the film “Flap a wing!”. 2014 (the year of release) promised to be hot - the picture had to compete with impressive competitors, the tapes "How to Train Your Dragon 2" and "The Family of Monsters".

Brighter images, more credibility

During the year, animators created prototypes of the main characters. There were several of them, and each had to be somewhat different from the rest. The film “Wave your wings!” also included many different landscapes and natural realities. Without this, it is difficult to imagine a cartoon about birds that had to soar in the sky and look down at the earth. Consequently, the artists needed to bring the overall picture as close as possible to reality, including the prescribed streets and squares. The director's post was given to Christian De Vita. The debutant was not afraid to take on “Fly the Wing!”, and the best decorators of the partner studios were involved as helpHaut et Court, Panache Productions and TeamTO.

An easy-to-understand story needed an equally simple story. First of all, the cartoon “Wave your wings!” was designed for a children's audience, which will not understand the intricacies of the storylines. By the way, the picture was intended for viewing by all generations, without age restrictions. However, many distributors offered to give her PG status. In world cinema, this means the desirable presence of parents, in this case, when watching “Flap your wings!”.

Thus, the scriptwriters narrowed down the plot, making the main character a small bird named Chizhik. He always dreamed of conquering the peaks, but remained cowardly and downtrodden. Before being sent to the warm African lands, trouble occurs with the leader Darius - he contacts an evil cat, which deprives him of the ability to manage articles. He chooses Chizhik as commander-in-chief, shows the way, gives some advice, and the little bird gathers courage before his eyes. Rising into the sky, now Chizhik is responsible not only for himself, but for his entire team. In addition, he will have to learn how to be a leader, although among the whole pack there are those who may not like it. This was the key script idea of the tape “Flap your wings!”. Feedback from a large audience, which the studio was waiting for, should have shown whether the creators managed to realize the idea.

Course - movie premiere

Premier screeningtook place on October 11, 2014 in the UK, at the International Festival in London. In the USA, the cartoon “Wave your wings!” arrived December 5th. France was limited to the last place in a series of prime ministers. In the country of origin, the release is scheduled for February 18, 2015. The decision of the distributors to release the cartoon at different times came as a surprise to many viewers. Our country was among the first to buy the rights to show the tape “Flap your wings!”. 2014, November 6 - the date of the premiere of the cartoon.

Given the significant difference in release dates, it is too early to draw conclusions about the overall success. But something can already be said about Russia. For several weeks, the cartoon was in theaters. The total number of domestic viewers of the painting “Flap your wings!” exceeded 335 thousand people. The fees should also be noted. In our country, they amounted to over 1.3 million dollars.

This result is a good indicator. The film “Flap the Wing!”, reviews of which were still expected from foreign viewers, had not yet been fully appreciated, there was no clear picture of its success. But those who had already watched it were ready to share their impressions.

Children and adults were satisfied with watching the adventures of birds. First of all, the cartoon “Wave your wings!” pleasantly struck by the qualities that the writers generously awarded Chizhik. A kind of clumsy, he believes in his strength to the last, relying on intuition. Along the way, the team of birds will have to get into a storm, collide with hunters, go astray and even meet with the “iron bird”.

Similarity is difference

In the first place, it also consisted in character: endowed with completely human qualities, the main characters turned into harmful, arrogant, cowardly, good-natured and soft creatures. On top of that, the secondary characters also looked diverse. So, for example, fat seals caused laughter, and stupid hares turned out to be very funny. In a word, a real mixture of explosive characters was created, harmoniously played out in the cartoon “Flap a wing!”. Film reviews are proof of this.

On a trip - only with kindness

A distinctive feature was the absence of negative images. It is impossible not to notice and not appreciate. On the other hand, the young viewers of “Wave your wings!” waiting for some kind of opposition to the whole team of goodies. By and large, the villains are not at all provided for by the author's intention, as well as the struggle between good and evil. Instead, we are presented with a lot of funny, positive moments and children's jokes that create a pleasant mood when viewing. Cartoon “Wave your wings!” looks like a total trip. An adventure that includes a lot of trials that end happily. And a sweet aftertaste after the end credits.

An old tale about the main thing

The viewer will be right about another story of a loser chosen to do great things. Of course, such paintings as “Flap your wings!” Are constantly needed in order to maintain in people the desirebe better than they are now. Especially if, with genuine ease, it is presented using the example of birds to a young audience. All the strength of the spirit, like a bolt from the blue, falls on the yellow-mouthed Chizhik, and he has no choice but to accept the challenge and hold the blow to the end. Let his development as a leader move according to the patterns we have studied a thousand times, the viewing takes place in one breath - so that small viewers cannot sit still!

No music anywhere

What is an animated creation without sound? The musical component is unobtrusive, it harmoniously complements the actions taking place according to the plot “Fly your wings!”. The audience's feedback speaks of the right decision to give the Russian voice acting of the characters to well-known figures in show business.

Vadim Galygin, who gave voice to Karl, is very good at his masterful impersonation. Pelageya simply amazed with her vocal abilities, literally forcing her Ladybug to come to life. Alexey Vorobyov also adequately coped with the task - at certain moments it is extremely difficult to find out that this is a popular singer and actor.

The best is for children

Speaking about the overall impression of the cartoon, it is impossible to say something bad.

Everything that comes to mind is extremely positive. There is no vulgarity, good humor, an original idea embodied on the screen, an instructive aspect and a good mood - all this is combined in the film “Flap Your Wing!”. Reviews of the cartoon prove that it is bright and worthyproduct. In terms of its strength, it is in no way inferior to its competitors and main predecessors. In particular, it is very similar to "Rio", where the main characters are also birds embarking on a long and fun adventure. Really warm cartoon “Wave your wings!” contributes to the creation of family comfort, becoming a great occasion for an evening pastime.
