We all know Ellie Smith - the main character of Alexander Volkov's work about the wizard of the Emerald City. When creating the group, Moscow musicians used the image of a kind little girl from a fairy tale. Her name became the name of the project.

About the group

Ellie Smith is over 10 years old, but few have heard of it. At the beginning of its formation and creative development, the team changed several names; The line-up and participants changed several times. New listeners left and came.

The group was founded in 2006, at the same time the first album was released. But it was not at all the "Ellie Smith" that we can see now. Then it was more of an ideological team with ambitious members and an unusual name Simptoma.

Heavy depressive songs prevailed in the performance. But after a while, the group radically changed its worldview and now promotes only positive in everything and for everyone.

Time passed, the composition changed, destinies and characters changed, someone came and left a piece of himself, a piece of his soul…

The music itself has changed radically, the public's attitude towards it, the participants themselves have also changed. In 2010, the band took on a new name and announced it for the first time. After a long breakshe was resurrected under the new name "Ellie Smith".

Since a cute girl from a fairy tale, kind and sympathetic, always ready to come to the rescue of her friends, was chosen as the prototype, the group is positioning itself in the same way at the moment.

The ideological philosophy is not to declare publicly about pressing problems, but to find the path of goodness, to become a positive example for society.

The group does not currently adhere to any one musical direction, thus not limiting their horizons.

"Ellie Smith" is not very popular and almost unrecognizable, the fans can literally be counted on the fingers. This is largely due to the lack of sponsorship.

All the time of musicians goes to the main income. And to do what they love, they have very little time left. You can call music your favorite hobby. But those who are familiar with their creations are satisfied. Fans attend concerts with great pleasure.

The group has a peculiar vision and idea of the world, its own concept of perception of others. She is much closer to the audience. Participants are not shy and do not consider it reprehensible to accept help from the listener. Fans have helped the musicians more than once with the decoration, transportation and carrying of concert equipment.

There are hardly any studio recordings, but live concerts are held regularly.

Concerts

The following fact can be called a feature of this musical group. Everything the guys do, they do for free. Here you will not meet the controller at the door, the entrance is usually free. Everyone is welcome here. As the project leader said in an interview: “This is part of our philosophy…”.

Group members believe that nowadays the attitude towards music has become consumeristic, and when a person goes to a concert, he has a completely different perception, a different attitude.

Some, if they paid money for the concert, they are forced to serve it to the end, but this is contrary to the philosophy of "Ellie Smith". Musicians are convinced that if a person inthe burden of performing or being in a given environment, then he just needs to be able to get up and leave. And there is nothing to be ashamed of.

Some want to go but can't find the money, which is also wrong.

Concerts are rarely attended, no more than 30-40 people gather. Mostly held in cafes, clubs of the capital and other cities.

Sincere and sad songs act as an incentive for positive growth, rethinking of life values. All this the band wants to convey to the listener.

Prospects

“Ellie Smith” has both talent, and desire, and aspiration, but there has not yet been a producer who would be engaged in development and promotion. The group is ready for cooperation, as always glad to new personalities.

Recently, a message appeared on the network that the musical group was suspending its activities. At present, it is not exactly clear what caused this, how long the break will last, and what the musicians' plans for the future are in general.
