Grigory Gladiy: the beginning of the journey

The actor was born in the Ternopil region (Ukraine). It happened in December 1954. Grigory Gladiy was brought up in an ordinary family. There are no movie stars among his relatives. The first years of the boy's life were spent in Khorostkov. Already in childhood, Grisha realized that he wanted to connect his life with dramatic art.

After graduating from school, the guy entered the Kyiv Institute named after Karpenko-Kary, received a diploma in 1976.

Work in the theater

Grigory Gladiy played his first roles in his student years. After graduating from the institute, the young man joined the creative team of the Taras Shevchenko Drama Theater, which he soon left for the sake of the Kyiv Youth Theater.

Grigory started with the performance of episodic and minor roles, quickly enough got into the ranks of the leading actors. Then he wanted to test his strength as a director. Gladiy's debut in this area was the play "The Steadfast Prince", the plot of which was borrowed from the work of the famous playwright Calderon. Unfortunately, his first production was not censored and was banned from showing.

The anti-Soviet views of the actor and director led to the fact that he became the object of persecution by the authorities. This forced him to spend several years in Lithuania, where he was sheltered by director Jonas Vaitkus. As a result, Grigory Gladiy ended up in Moscow. He entered GITIS and began performing at the theater of Anatoly Vasiliev. The talented young man had his first fans, but he dreamed of more.

First roles

For the first time actor Grigory Gladiy was on the set in 1973. The young man made his debut in the famous military drama “Only “old men” go into battle. He failed to attract public interest, as he played an unnamed second lieutenant who only appears in an episode.
