The personality of Peter the Great was overgrown with myths and legends even during his rather turbulent life. The emperor differed from his compatriots not only in his tall stature and heroic strength, but also in his mentality. The quirks of this certainly smart and far-sighted politician were, to put it mildly, unusual. Either he orders the bells to be poured onto the cannons, or he decides to "Germanize" everyone as a matter of urgency. And when a strange creature appeared in his entourage, whose skin was unusually black and whose teeth were unusually white, the faith of the common people, who had long been wary of the emperor that he was actively serving the dark forces, only strengthened. Studying at school, we had the honor to get acquainted with Pushkin's wonderful work "Arap of Peter the Great", the content of which is very entertaining.

The significance of the piece

Pushkin began writing his story in 1827. It is of interest that this is perhaps the first work that introduces us to Pushkin the prose writer. The name "Arap of Peter the Great" was given not by him, but by the editors of Sovremennik, since at the time of publication it was more of a sketch than a full-fledged literary creation. But the story cannot be short, the content of "Peter the Great's Moor" tells that Peter played an important role in the fate of his pet and even contributed to his marriage. In fact, this is a work of art. The emperor could not marry Ibragim Petrovich, because at that time he was in another world … In general, Pushkin had long nurtured the idea of writing a prose work about the Petrine era, which he had long been passionate about and, knowing full well that the works of I. I. Golikov, on which he relied, rather controversial, did not set itself the goal of creating a strictly historical novel. He was much more interested in life, traditions, customs and various anecdotes, of which there were many about Peter. Most of all, Alexander Sergeevich was interested in the relationship of the king with his mysterious ancestor. What was this person? This will tell us a tour of the history (short). The content of "Arap Peter the Great" speaks of a kind of musketeer Don Juan, a brave warrior and intellectual. The character is certainly romantic, Ibrahim Petrovich in the time of Pushkin was of interest to connoisseurs of the great classic.

Hero Personality

The essence of the story (short) the content of "Moor of Peter the Great" reflects quite accurately. Unfortunately (or maybe, on the contrary, fortunately), to find a source in which the already small story would be retold in the literal sense "in twowords" today is hardly possible. But if a student is "threatened" with an essay, and there is absolutely no time to read, you can always watch the wonderful film "How Tsar Peter Married Married", and the child will have some knowledge on this topic. We can say that this film is not so much even a brief retelling of the story, but rather a free interpretation, and with the help of fantasy, a student will be able to write a good text.

In the center of the plot we see a hero whose behavior and personality are quite typical for the literature of those times. A young man who received an excellent education, possessing exceptional character traits and, of course, in love, finds himself involuntarily drawn into the intrigues that reigned in the court of his godfather, Tsar-father Peter the Great. The essence of the conflict is that, being a devoted supporter of both Peter personally and his deeds, Ibrahim, actively "involved" in his politics, sets up against himself the entourage of the reformer tsar. However, despite the exceptional honesty, decency and adherence to principles, it is impossible to call the black man an outstanding person. He is completely devoid of initiative and prefers to be led even in the matter of his personal life…

The plot of the story (short)

The content of "Arap of Peter the Great" is as follows: the story begins with the fact that Ibrahim, the hero of the French war against Spain, is involved in a love conflict. Expelled from Paris, experiencing a severe heart injury, he returns to Russia, where his godfather, Emperor PeterGreat. Already well aware of the "exploits" of his pet, the king offers him an interesting "treatment" of love fever - as soon as possible to become his assistant in reforming the system. Ibrahim happily agrees. He also agrees to marry the pretty Natalya Gavrilovna, the daughter of Gavrila Afanasyevich Rzhevsky, who was "a native Russian gentleman and could not stand the German spirit." Knowing the character of Peter, one can easily assume that in this way he wanted to annoy the boyar who irritated him, for which he chose such a rather cynical path … The (brief) content of "Arap Peter the Great" presented in this article, unfortunately, is unlikely to awaken the modern adolescent desire to get acquainted with the work itself. And it's worth it. Written in an unsurpassed "Pushkin" style, light, somewhat ironic, it is a magnificent example of the work of the great classic. In a word, the best way out would be to take and read "Arap of Peter the Great". A brief summary, no matter how well it is written, will not allow the reader to feel the essence of this work.
