Many are wondering where the phrase "Guys, let's live together" came from. It has long become winged, but not everyone remembers its author. It was invented by screenwriter Arkady Khait, who created the cat Leopold. Let's remember a little about the life of this wonderful person.

Childhood

Arkady Khait was born in the capital of Russia on December 25, 1938. His father was engineer Joseph Hait. Previously, he and his wife lived in Odessa, but shortly before the birth of their son, they moved to Moscow and settled in a spacious communal apartment.

From early childhood, Arkady was surrounded by the care of many people: mom, dad, brother, as well as neighbors. In an unremarkable communal apartment, a real talent grew up - a person who in the future will write a huge number of funny texts, scripts for theatrical performances, plots for the Wick TV magazine, the Baby Monitor and Yeralash programs. Arkady's father loved to joke, but his humor was truly sophisticated, although quite sharp. Thus, the boy developed good taste from an early age, and in his character there was a certain vanity and stubbornness; these qualities later helped him become famous. Arkady, Jr.child in the family, did not want to be the last in anything. If, for example, he once lost, he made a firm promise to himself that next time this would not happen again. But the boy at the same time was very kind, and already then, apparently, in case of any quarrel with friends, he repeated: “Guys, let's live together.” Interestingly, the most successful brainchild of Arkady Khait was not popular funny texts and monologues written for famous comedians, but the scripts for the cartoons "Cat Leopold" and "Well, you wait!".

Cooperation between Hite and Reznikov

In 1974 a historic event happened. Arkady Khait and director Anatoly Reznikov met.

The last one was inspired by the breakneck success of "Just you wait!" and planned to create another cartoon. He had some thoughts about it, but he couldn't do anything on his own. Then Reznikov's friend Boris Savelyev (by the way, a famous composer), whom we know thanks to Radionyan, arranged this significant meeting. So the cat Leopold was created. "Guys let's be friends!" - soon millions of children heard these words.

Original Design

Reznikov said that he and Hite came up with a great idea - to make a plot-shifter, where not a cat will chase mice, but vice versa. Indeed, a great idea. Soon Reznikov was visited by the main idea that was the basis of his offspring: in any society and at any time, peace should reign, and everyone is obliged to strive for this. The authors thought about how to show this onscreen, and soon decided that the cat would say: "Guys, let's live together!" This phrase is extremely simple, but it makes so much sense!

Painstaking work

The first episode was called "Revenge of the Cat Leopold" and the second one was called "Leopold and the Goldfish" and they were created by the method of translations.

In other words, a lot of small elements and characters were cut out. Then these drawings were laid out on glass and, slowly moving them, they achieved the effect of movement. All these works were aimed at teaching children goodness. "Guys, let's live together" - should have sounded from the screen in every episode.

Prohibition of the cartoon, resumption of work on it

In 1976, the initial series was demonstrated at the artistic council, after which they wanted to veto the cartoon. At that time, the editor-in-chief of the commission was a certain Zhdanova, and she decided: the creation can be considered pacifist, pro-Chinese and anti-Soviet.

She wondered: why didn't the cat kill the mice, but decided to make peace with them? She was also embarrassed by the phrase "Guys, let's live together." However, at that time work was already underway on the next series, called "Leopold and the Goldfish", and it was nevertheless allowed to be completed, and then even broadcast on central television. By 1981, many letters of thanks had accumulated - the audience was delighted. And the authors returned to their offspring, work began on new series.

And today, modern children enjoy watchingthis cartoon. “Guys, let's live together,” they repeat after Leopold, and this cannot but rejoice. Thanks to an intelligent cat, children from an early age begin to learn how to behave. Parents should be happy that there is such a cartoon that helps children develop in the right direction. This creation will never lose its relevance.
