In 2005, the official registration of a new cultural object took place in the city of Tula. Its legal name is “Cultural Institution Chamber Drama Theatre”, however, another name has taken root among the people - “Chamber Drama Theatre”, or simply “KDT”. The creative team has been leading its history since 1999. It was then that the play "The Glass Menagerie" (based on the work of the same name by Tennessee Williams), staged by director Alexei Basov, was shown at the Tula Puppet Theater. Already after the first performance with actors from different troupes, a desire arose to open their own drama theater. Tula would have gladly accepted the appearance of a new cultural object even in 1999, but there was no own premises, as well as sponsors ready to help in its acquisition. The creative team withstood about 5 years of wandering around different stages and after official registration received a room at the address: Dzerzhinsky Street, Building 8 - where it is today.
