When traveling, many choose tours where you can not only have a good rest, but also get new experiences, knowledge and interesting information by seeing the sights of these places. The submarine museum in St. Petersburg deserves your attention. It is definitely worth visiting for all guests of the northern capital.
Unusual museums
Not everyone can boast of regular visits to museums. Many are too busy with work, while others are simply not used to spending time like this. There are those who find it boring, remembering long excursions from their childhood, when a teacher or a museum employee told something long and monotonously.
Probably, those times are in the past, when the presentation of the exposition suggested just such an approach. Now there are special children's options for excursions aimed at different age groups of schoolchildren and even toddlers.
Interactive excursions are organized for both children and adults, where everyone can take partin the cognitive process. Some museums offer theatrical programs and photo shoots in themed costumes.
Although the format of the tours has changed significantly, the museums themselves have remained the same. Most often, this is a building that contains thematic collections on the history, culture, life, nature of a particular people, region. However, there are also specific museums. For example, an open-air museum, which presents the architecture and life of the Russian village, military equipment; museums of iron, nail, mouse; music and time, in which musical instruments and clocks are exhibited and shown in action.
St. Petersburg
As for the guests of the northern capital, they are given a huge choice of which museum to go to. It is impossible not to visit the treasures of national paintings of the Hermitage and the Russian Museum. The halls of the Museum of the Navy are very interesting. A special place is occupied by expositions that are not in ordinary buildings, but, for example, on ships.
This is the legendary cruiser "Aurora" and the submarine museum in St. Petersburg. If on surface ships, although civilians, there were most likely the majority in their lives, then being on a submarine is the fate of the elect. Everyone can feel like one by visiting the expositions of submarine museums. They are not only in the northern capital, but also in other cities of Russia and abroad. Severomorsk, Vladivostok, Tushino, Cherbourg (France), Tallinn (Estonia), Bremerton (USA) - a short list of those cities that can be proud of having suchattractions.
Where are such expositions and memorials
If you do not have information about the world history of the Navy, then such museums may seem exotic. In fact, the submarine museum in St. Petersburg is far from being the only one of its kind.

- The world's only nuclear submarine museum, Le Redoutable, is located in the dry dock of the old train station complex in Cherbourg, where it was towed in 2000 and received its first visitors in 2002 under the name Cite de la Mer.
- Organized a good exposition in the summer harbor of the Estonian Maritime Museum in Tallinn. The museum-submarine is equipped inside the Estonian/Soviet mine-layer "Lembit" of the English-built "Kalev" type.
- In Surobaya (Indonesia), a copy of the most numerous Soviet project - 613 was installed as a memorial. The C-79 KRI Pasopati 410 boat served in combat service in the Indonesian Navy in the period 1959-1994. The interior is now open to visitors.
This is not a complete list of those cities in Russia and the world where submarines or their cabins are installed as monuments or converted into museums. Many of them are located in parks on pedestals, but there are also those that, thanks to restoration and reconstruction work, to this day retainbuoyancy.
Submarine (St. Petersburg)
Museum is a Soviet medium diesel-electric torpedo submarine of project 613. This is the first and most massive type of submarine built after World War II.
Ships of this project until the end of the 1980s were on combat duty in all seas and oceans. They tested new types of weapons. They were used as training centers for the training of personnel.
The S-189 submarine museum in St. Petersburg, which met its first visitors on March 20, 2010, was built at the B altic Shipyard in 1954. Launched in the same year. In the spring of 1955, she began combat duty. She was in the Navy of the USSR for 35 years. She performed combat missions in the Atlantic and the B altic Sea, took part in the testing of new types of weapons, repeatedly participated in naval parades, and has awards and distinctions. After her exclusion from the fleet, the dismantling of equipment, she was waiting for recycling. Due to malfunctions, she sank at the pier in the Merchant Harbor of the port of Kronstadt. After numerous attempts by veteran submariners of the Navy to attract sponsors to finance the project, she was successfully raised from the ground and transported to the Gunnery Plant, where she was restored.

Two doors were made on the sides for the entrance and exit of excursion groups, the interior space was expanded for ease of inspection. The hatches between the compartments have been preserved, but passages for visitors have been made.
