Gliding step in the dance - Pas glisse (derived from the French pas - step, glisser - sliding) - is the movement in ballroom dancing forward, backward and sideways.
The sliding step looks like a wide foot movement, the toe glides gently over the surface. This step is also called a planing step.

Pa Chasse comes from the French pas - step, chasser - to catch up.
Pas Chasser in the dance is a complicated version of the sliding step (double steps). Schematically, it is depicted as a "step - catch up - step." A double sliding step is performed in all directions and diagonally. The basis of Pas Chasser is the steps of Pas glisse.
Pas Chasser back and forth
- First step is Pa Glissé with the right foot.
- Left leg pulls up to right, knees straighten.
- Pa Glisse again with the right foot.
Movements from the left foot, to the side and back are done in the same way.
Notes:
- The sock must not be torn off the floor.
- Movements begin with half-raised fingers.
- Step starts with a toe.
- When performing the Pa Chasse in the dance, the head is turned towards the leg performing the step.
Pa Glissade is a dance step, characterized by the absence of half-fingers.
