The Gorky Park group was created in 1987 thanks to the Stas Namin Center. This was a kind of attempt to "promote" the Russian group, using Western methods, so that it thundered abroad and at the same time glorified and spread the news of the wonderful "Serpomolotov" country. To fulfill this lofty goal, the best musicians were selected. They were Nikolai Noskov and Alexei Belov (vocals and guitar) - former soloists of the Moscow group. Also, the group could boast of such members as Yan Yanenkov and Alexander Minkov (aka Alexander Marshal) - guitar and bass, former members of the "Flowers" group. The former soloist of the Aria group, Alexander Lvov, also moved here and began to beat rhythms now in the Gorky Park group. The composition of the group, as you can see, is quite good.
For the first time the group showed itself to the world at the festival called "Musicians for Peace", which was organized by the Stas Namin Center. This debut took place in May 1988. After that, the group "Gorky Park" accompanied the world famous "Scorpions" in their concerts inLeningrad. In 1989, in August, another high-profile performance of the group took place in Luzhniki, at the International Moscow Peace Festival, in which many world celebrities also participated. And he organized this festival… who could we think… Stas Namin Center.
In the fall of 1989, the first album released by the rock band "Gorky Park" was released. The songs from this album were listened to in many countries, and the video clip of one of the songs from this disc ("Bang! Bang!") was in the top 15 MTV. In total, over a million records have been sold.
The second album, which was released by the group "Gorky Park" ("Moscow calls"), caused no less delight. It was released in 1992 and was presented by various companies in many countries of the world. Together with the group "Gorky Park" many famous American performers recorded records. For example, the first disc was recorded with the participation of Jon Bon Jovi, as well as the musicians of his band. Duzil Zappa, Richard Marx, as well as saxophonist Skate Page, a member of the Pink Floyd band, took part in the creation of the second album.
However, with the release of the second album, the group lost one of its members - Nikolai Noskov. He was replaced by Nikolai Kuzminykh, who once played in the Moskva group along with Alexei Belov.
The return of the group to their homeland took place in 1994, and already in 1995 a long-term tour of the cities of Russia was organized. The inhabitants of the capital belonged to the illustrious groupcalmly, but in the provinces there was nowhere to push because of the number of people who wanted to see world-famous fellow countrymen.
1996 was the year of the release of the third album called "Stare". It was clear from the recording that the band's music had become much more complex. A symphony orchestra took part in the recording of the third album of Gorky Park. In addition, Alan Holdsworth (famous American guitarist) and Ron Powell (one of the best percussionists in the world) took part in the recording process.
At concerts, the musicians often performed, dressing up in stage pseudo-folk costumes (harem pants, blouses), holding guitars shaped like balalaikas, and waving American and Soviet flags.
Alexander Minkov left the group in 1998 and began his solo career, choosing the pseudonym Alexander Marshal. The same year is considered actually the year of the breakup of the group. After the collapse, Aleksey Belov and Yan Yanenkov still continued to perform, performing songs from the old repertoire and taking on a new name - "Belov Park".
