It's no secret that it is at school age that the formation of the character of the individual takes place, morality is brought up, a sense of justice develops. At school, most experience first love. Therefore, it is not surprising that the school becomes the scene of films and series in which passions boil, which are sometimes not found in adulthood. No matter how different the school is, films similar to "Correction Class" are reliably shown. The list presented in the publication is far from complete. It contains only realistic, dark and dramatic designs.
New generation
Once Soviet cinema was famous for its strong, poignant pictures about the school, experienced teachers and the new generation on the verge of adulthood. But during the time of perestroika, the school theme in the cinema was relegated to the background, although it did not lose its relevance. Currently, new directors have created a number of bright, voluminous, original and serious stories about modern teenagers. Strong directing.cinematography, amazing acting - these are the components of all films similar to the film "Correction Class" (2014).
Festival Masterpiece
In 2014, I. I. Tverdovsky demonstrated to the audience the unsightly realities that most prefer not to notice. His project is positioned by many critics as arthouse. But the film, for all its gloom, is far from plunging into hopelessness and decay. The viewer watches most of the timekeeping of the tape with experience, fear, pain, but also with hope. Many Russian films similar to "Correction Class" carry a similar message.
The main character of Tverdovsky's painting, Lena, who suddenly lost the ability to move normally, becomes a new student in a specialized educational institution. She easily finds a common language with classmates, falls in love with Anton. The correctional class, which must be under constant supervision by teachers, becomes a burden for many teachers. Children noticeably lag behind in development from he althy peers. Lena convinces her friends of the need to study, supports and motivates them in every possible way. But she herself turns out to be betrayed and humiliated.
Project advantages and disadvantages
The "Correction Class" rating according to IMDb is 6.90. The film has mostly positive reviews. Among the advantages of the tape, most reviewers name the work of the leading performers, which is fantastic in depth, which in factwere debutants in big cinema. Maria Poezzhaeva, who embodied Lena Chekhova on the screen, gave the viewers a character of such depth and power that her every appearance in the frame forces you to hold your breath. Philip Avdeev, who played Anton Sobolev, easily wins over the audience. The young actors who played the main character's classmates become intimate very soon, which is why the ending is so frightening.
The film's only flaw is its climax. While the Estonian “Class” (2007), which undoubtedly belongs to films similar to “Correction Class”, reaches the peak of drama and emotions by the end, Tverdovsky’s work moves to the level of metaphor and parable. Finishes crumpled, does not stun with realism. It seems that the author does not tell the whole truth, preferring to get off with a comfortable ending.
"Everyone will die, but I will stay" (IMDb: 6.50)
Opens the list of films like "Correction Class", the creation of one of the main Russian female directors of our time, whose work traditionally touches on controversial topics. The first short films by Valeria Gai Germanika were devoted to the life of schoolchildren trying to appear older by drinking and smoking. These pernicious elements of youthful maximalism from early works fully migrated to the full-length feature debut en titled Everyone Dies, But I Stay (2008). In the center of the story are three ninth-graders - Vika, Katya and Zhanna. Having learned that on Saturday there will be a disco at school, they have been preparing all week for the upcoming event, which will be a real rite of initiation for them. Immediately after the premiere, the tape infuriated almost everyone who looked, now it looks so true that it is called a cast of time. Therefore, it can be safely attributed to films similar to "Correction Class".
Series "School" (IMDb: 6.30)
Among films like "Correction Class" there is one television series, which many domestic filmmakers call a revolution in the television world. "School" was filmed by a large number of authors, including Valeria Gai Germanika. The audience's reaction to her drama "Everybody Die But I Stay" prompted the producers to create a similar project in a TV format.
After the death of the class teacher due to illness, the exemplary 9-A class is left without a strong hand. Discipline immediately bursts at the seams, the class destroys the usual idea of teachers about them. No one dares to take responsibility, and exemplary children become the most "difficult" in school.
The show caused an explosion on TV and a split among critics. New episodes were discussed on federal channels, night broadcasts gathered a huge audience of viewers. Not a single “school” series has been able to repeat this experience.
"Class" (IMDb: 8.00)
Movies like "Correction Class" are usually not based on real events. However, there are exceptions. These include the work of the Estonian director Ilmar Raag "Class". Its plot was inspiredthe tragedy that occurred at the American Columbine School in 1999. This is a picture about the friendship of two teenagers - Josep and Kaspar, who are forced to confront the bullying and violence of the hooligan majority of their peers. The patience of cornered children comes to an end after sexual humiliation. After the main characters take up arms. As a result of indiscriminate shooting, not only their offenders die, but also innocent students. Unfortunately, films like "Correction Class" and the brainchild of I. Raag cannot protect children from repeating such tragedies, which are still taking place in schools, repeating themselves with terrifying frequency.
"The Tribe" (IMDb: 7.10)
Films like "Correction Class" also include the work of director Miroslav Slaboshpitsky "The Tribe". In the center of the narrative of the tape is a teenager Sergei, who ends up in a boarding school for deaf and dumb children. The real power in the institution does not belong to the teachers, everything is run by older guys who quickly take on a strong newcomer. Soon, as part of a gang, he begins to beat out money from younger students, rob random passers-by. After that, he becomes a pimp who offers high school girls to truckers.
The idea of "The Tribe", like other films like "Correction Classroom", pisses off many viewers. The situation is aggravated by the fact that the tape is almost entirely in sign language, devoid of translation. Some critics justify the "experiment" of the creators, arguing that such a narrative keeps the audience in good shape, forcing them to solve what is happening like a puzzle. In general, in thiscinema, except for everyday horror and depressing hopelessness, there is nothing. Slaboshpitsky shot an impeccable dark project with impeccably built shots that work towards the overall idea of the film.
"Scarecrow" (IMDb: 7.90)
In the list of pictures, one way or another similar to "Correction Class", the film "Scarecrow", filmed back in 1983. Events are developing in Soviet times in one of the provincial towns. There is a new student in 6-A. Lena is wonderful, kind, overly enthusiastic, not like everyone else. The students, immediately taking up arms against the girl, give her the offensive nickname Scarecrow and are included in natural persecution. Rolan Bykov, in tandem with Arkady Khait, filmed a lyrical, sad, but rather cruel story about school life. The Scarecrow tape should be attributed to films similar to the Correction Class, because it broke a lot of patterns of Soviet cinema, demonstrating not in the best light both teachers and pioneer students. For the eighties of the last century, such a project was unusually bold and honest. It was this honesty that made the picture a masterpiece, despite the severity of the events described.
