Since childhood, she has been very cold, not showing sympathy, even then the tasks were more pleasant for her than communication with her peers. At school, Shizuku was nicknamed "dry ice," but that didn't hurt her either. She changes because of falling in love, although the girl's temperament and love of learning remain the same. Of the positive qualities of Mizutani, justice, determination, honesty, and the ability to understand another person can be distinguished. Her psychological type is kudere (i.e. she shows feelings so rarely that it is easy to doubt their existence).

Haru Yoshida

The main character, he is also a monster at the next desk. At the very beginning of the anime, we only learn about this character that he got into a fight on the very first day of the school year and never showed up at school again. As we learn later, Haru is a naive and sweet guy, although if he gets angry, he is capable of anything. He loves animals, especially his rooster, which he carries with him everywhere after returning to school. Haru is very jealous but at times indecisive. He sincerely talks about everything that excites him. Since he had little to no contact with people for about three years, skipping high school, Yoshida is wild and cannot control his emotions. Despite this, he is smart, easily grasps new knowledge,good at math.

Asako Natsume

Sub-character of the "Monster next door". A sweet and emotional girl who lives completely on the Web with her thoughts. She has many friends there, but in her heart she still feels lonely. Natsume is bad at studying, this is the reason for her acquaintance with the main characters. True, Asako later sincerely wants to see her close friend in Shizuka, which, given the nature of Mizutani, is a somewhat utopian desire. Asako really dislikes being laughed at and poked fun at, having bad memories of high school. For Natsume, female friendship has always been important, but everyone hated her, because because of her attractive appearance and good-natured nature, the girl was too popular among guys. Asako is athletic and fun-loving, and maintains a blog where she often makes her life look brighter than it really is.

Sohei Sasahara

Minor character. Haru has known each other since middle school, they went to the same baseball team. He gets along very well with Natsume, they are constantly seen together. Sasahara is a friendly, outgoing, kind guy. He is very afraid that Haru will drop out of school again. Helps others more often than builds his own relationships. Although he is cheerful and good-natured, he can often be quite serious.

Chizuru Oshima

A minor character from the anime "Monster next door". Shy and shy, unable to communicate with people, afraid to beintrusive. He is class president, but only because he wears glasses. A lot of work is always hung on her, which she cannot refuse to do. Nevertheless, this girl always has her own opinion, although it is difficult for her to overcome the internal psychological threshold in order to express it. Haru saves her from the bullying of schoolchildren, over time, Oshima falls in love with him. Knowing that he loves Shizuku, the girl does not interfere in their ambiguous relationship, and sometimes helps Haru pull himself together and make peace with Shizuku. Oshima is a bit pessimistic and uncertain about the future, which is why Haru often calls her "gloomy".

Kenji Yamaguchi

Minor character. At the beginning of the anime, he appears as a member of a criminal gang. Then it turns out that in fact he and his friends are children from rich families who simply have nothing to dispel boredom. Unlike his narrow-minded comrades, Yamaguchi is very smart, always sees the whole problem as a whole, a good connoisseur of human relations. He is well acquainted with Haru, because the younger Yoshida considers Yamaguchi his friend. Their relationship deteriorates when Shizuku opens Haru's eyes to what's going on. Later, Yamaguchi falls in love with Shizuka, for which he becomes very angry with himself. Self-confident and proud, he never doubts his own superiority over those around him.

Yuzan Yoshida

Sub-character of the "Monster next door". Haru's older brother, at the appearance of which the younger immediately runs away. Talkative, popular withgirls, loves sweets, especially donuts. He says that Haru dislikes him so much because of his brother's complex. The younger Yoshida stubbornly denies this. Haru says that Yuzan is very cunning and you never know what to expect from him. As it turns out later, he came to transfer Haru at the request of his father to another academy, which is closer to home. After meeting Shizuku, the older brother changes his mind after noticing that she is a good influence on Haru.

Mitsuyoshi Misawa

Sub-character of the "Monster next door". Game center owner. Looks after Haru, many people think that he is his father. In reality, Misawa is Haru's cousin and is very similar in appearance to Haru and Yuzan. They don't like it, so Misawa never takes off her glasses. Smokes a lot. Very charismatic, cool guy. This is probably why Natsume falls in love with him. He does not want to date her due to the age difference, but remains warm towards Asako after her confession, saying that he feels lonely when she does not visit his play center.
