Everyone's favorite phrase "This is just a saying, a fairy tale ahead" can be interpreted in two ways. And how further everything will be more interesting and more interesting, or is it just flowers, berries will go further. Both as a promise and as a threat. This is in everyday conversation.
Experts say…
And what do professional researchers of Russian folklore think about proverbs? Folklorists delight us with a very funny interpretation of the proverb - “priskazulka”, “fabulous”, “pribasenotska”, “pribalutka”, “bakulotska”. And they explain: a saying is a fairy tale, but very short. With a few short sayings, the storytellers provoked the listeners, preparing them for a long epic or a fairy tale of an epic nature that required attention. So you see the village mound, the old storyteller, who looks like a sorcerer and rumbles a hundred sayings in a row, and the white-headed peasant children stuck around him, eagerly listening to every fable. Here is a saying, an example of which shows all the richness of the means of the Russian language that she usually uses: “A fairy tale comes from the Sivka, from the cloak, from the things of the kaurka. On the sea, on the ocean, on the island of Buyan, there is a baked bull, crushed onions near it … This is a saying:the fairy tale will be ahead.”
Types of Sayings
It's interesting to give examples of sayings, especially popular ones, but it's hard to find - you have to listen to the old storytellers. Although there are a lot of such short, anecdotal stories with a magnificent, polished Russian language scattered among the records of ethnographers who traveled through Russian villages in the 18-19th centuries and recorded folk tales, epics, tales. Here's where to look for examples of sayings.
Officially, several classifications of such jokes have been identified, experts in folklore vying with each other claim that Russian folk sayings are:
- joking and ridiculous;
- cynical and annoying (examples of sayings: "About the white bull" or "Basin on the stake");
- parody;
- anecdotal.
Since the purpose of the saying is to tease the listener, to make him want to continue, it cannot be familiar and standard. A skillful storyteller will turn around, crumble like a petty demon, and give out a dozen sayings that no one has ever said before him. Do not confuse the saying with the beginning.
Fairy-tale beginning
It is difficult to give examples of sayings, but there are as many beginnings as you like. This is “in a distant kingdom”, and “a fairy tale affects for a long time”, and many others, familiar from childhood. And the saying itself usually begins with a fabulous beginning: “In a certain kingdom, in that state …”, and ends with a promise: “This is not a fairy tale, but a saying, the whole fairy tale will be later, ahead.” The saying is always rhythmic,synonymous, very harmonious, smoothly transitions into further narration, but sometimes it parodies the tale itself.
The proverb is a child of the buffoon era, its brightness and liveliness. She is terribly lacking now in the emasculated world of the modern office worker. I wonder what a meeting of the State Duma would look like, beginning with a saying? Maybe the laws would be written more humanely? But for now, this is only a fabulous opportunity, and for lack of storytellers in our paved courtyards, it remains for us to look for examples of sayings in the books of ethnographers and folklorists.
