Love comedies are films of a special genre, lyrical and sincere. Every director considers it his duty to make at least a few films in the style of a romantic comedy, because with rare exceptions, such a film is guaranteed to be successful.
Old and new movies
Foreign love comedies are usually filmed in Hollywood, in pavilions equipped with the latest technology. Film studios such as MGM, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Pictures, W alt Disney make several films a year. Russian love comedies are also filmed regularly. Popularly loved films of the fifties and sixties, such as "Wedding with a dowry", "Kuban Cossacks", "Prisoner of the Caucasus" are especially appreciated. More modern ones - "The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath", "Love and Doves" - are also popular and loved by millions of moviegoers.
Russian and Soviet films of past years were shot according to naive, unsophisticated plots, when the moviegoer knows in advance how everything will end. Love affair inthe picture was without fiction, simple and predictable. The best love comedies are radically different from the usual ones, and famous actors from the top ten participate in them, and richer sponsors finance the project without restrictions. So it turns out that love comedies can also be mediocre at times.
Prisoner of the Caucasus
In 1966, a comedy film was shot at the Mosfilm studio, in which there is love and betrayal, humor and folk traditions, violation of public order and even bride kidnapping.
The film was directed by the famous director Leonid Gaidai, who by that time already had a number of comedies to his credit. Initially, the film was called "Shurik in the mountains", but later renamed the "Prisoner of the Caucasus". In the center of the plot is a student of the ethnographic faculty named Shurik, a folklore collector who came to the Caucasus for legends, fairy tales and toasts. However, he did not take into account that toasts are necessarily accompanied by a drink.
On the same days and in the same village, a girl Nina, a student of the Pedagogical Institute, came to her relatives for the summer holidays. A beauty, an athlete, a Komsomol member, Nina liked the local leader Comrade Saakhov very much. He decided to marry her. The film tells about what came of it.
Three plus two
Another romantic comedy was filmed in 1963 by director Genrikh Oganesyan based on the story "Savages" by Sergei Mikhalkov.
Three young people, veterinarian Roman, trainee diplomat Vadim and physicist Stepan Ivanovich Sundukov arrived in a Volga car on the wild coast of Crimea to relax. Friends pitched a tent, lit a fire. And suddenly it turned out that the place where they settled down was already taken.
Two beautiful girls came to "Zaporozhets" and said that they had been resting here for more than a year.
How to steal a million
A film in which love and crime are intertwined in the most bizarre way. Simon Dermot (Peter O'Toole) and Nicole (Audrey Hepburn) are on a mission to steal a valuable but fake sculpture from the Musée Lafayette in Paris. How it ended, it is not difficult to guess, of course, love. The figurine was stolen - and justice prevailed.
The picture was taken in 1966 and immediately became a bestseller. The box office broke all records. The film "How to Steal a Million" is still being watched all over the world today.
Pretty Woman
The romantic comedy, created by director Garry Marshall in 1990, made a splash. Millions of moviegoers sympathized with Vivienne Ward, a girl of easy virtue who, like everyone else, wants simple female happiness. Her role was played by actress Julia Roberts. Hollywood actor Richard Gere portrayed the main character Edward Lewis.
Sleepless in Seattle
A very kind romantic comedy in which three people find their happiness at once. Early widowed Sam, the father of a young child, is trying to find a wife. Hegives interviews on the radio, tells millions of people about his trouble. The next day, a mail van brings Sam several bags of marriage proposal letters from women all over America.
However, he did not have to choose, fate decreed otherwise. Another letter was written by a journalist named Annie. She invites Sam to meet on the roof of New York's Empire State Building on Valentine's Day, at sunset.
The meeting was destined by fate, and it took place, although it almost failed for a number of reasons. Popular actor Tom Hanks plays the role of Sam, and actress Meg Ryan plays the role of Annie.
Roman Holiday
The film tells about the adventures of Princess Anna, who escaped from care and went to travel around Rome at night.
For a young girl, everything was a wonder, and when she met Joe Bradley, a correspondent for a popular newspaper, on a deserted street, she was not at all surprised. Together they went on, experienced a lot of impressions, and the next day they continued their journey through Rome.
Roman Holiday, featuring the inimitable Audrey Hepburn as Princess Anne and Gregory Peck as a journalist, has been recognized as having special cultural and aesthetic significance.
Seven brides for seven brothers
A romantic comedy directed by Stanley Donen in 1954 was a reflection of the American way of life when people get together to build a house for one of them, and then celebratecompletion of construction with a grand celebration.
At the center of the plot are seven brothers living in the mountains. None of them is married, and women's caring hands "oh, how they would not hurt." The older brother Adam soon finds a wife and brings her into the house. Winter is coming. The remaining six decide to steal brides for themselves in a nearby town. No sooner said than done, six innocent girls kidnapped.
The film "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers" is about how the winter months passed, and how love blossomed in the spring.
Sun Valley Serenade
A pre-war love comedy directed by Bruce Humberstone, a film-musical about the adventures of musicians from the Glenn Miller Orchestra. The film is filled with great music, winter pictures and patriarchal landscapes of Sun Valley.

Love and doves
