“Back to the Future”

The best science fiction film in the world, according to many viewers, was filmed in 1985. You probably already guessed that we are talking about the painting “Back to the Future” by Robert Zemeckis.

Emmett Brown is a scientist,who spent thirty years working on the creation of a time machine. While demonstrating the invention to young Marty McFly, Doc is attacked and killed by terrorists, and the high school student manages to escape using a time machine. Marty finds himself in 1955, meets a young doctor, accidentally separates his own parents, and even jeopardizes his own birth.

“Matrix”

The legendary project “The Matrix” entered our “Top 10 best science fiction films”.

Until recently, Thomas Anderson successfully combined two roles - a programmer for a large company and a hacker Neo. The message received on his computer one day turns the view of the real world.

The dangerous terrorist Morpheus gets in touch with him, who claims that all people are enslaved by machines, and the environment is just an illusion. In fact, all cities have long been destroyed, and the planet has plunged into eternal dusk.

Conscious people hide in underground catacombs and fight against machines. Morpheus believes that Neo is the chosen one who will help defeat the supercomputer and "wake up" the people trapped in the Matrix.

The story begins in 1914. Two scientists explore a mysterious temple in Egypt. It turns out that the building was built by aliens, and inside are stored elements that are in danger due to the outbreak of the First World War on Earth. The Mondoshawans, an ancient alien race, arrive at the temple to take the elements to safety.

Then the action is transferred to the year 2263. The Earth is threatened by a huge flaming ball, but all attempts to destroy it fail. The messengers of the Mondoshawans come to the rescue and fly to the planet so that the elements can save all of humanity. Along the way, their ship is shot down by longtime foes and the elements go missing. Unique technologies make it possible to isolate DNA and recreate only the fifthelement - a charming girl Leela. Together with former agent Corben Dallas, they are on a deadly mission.

Starship Troopers

The best sci-fi films are mostly about space and alien races. Paul Verhoeven's Starship Troopers is another example of a failed interplanetary "friendship".

The United Civil Federation is a single state whose borders go far beyond the Earth. Humans colonize other planets, but their "natives" are not always happy to be invaded. The most difficult situation is in the Klendatu star system, where intelligent arachnids, insect-like creatures, are winning so far.

The Federation announces general mobilization, and the main characters go to serve in the army. Johnny Rico refuses to study at Harvard, after his girlfriend passes a series of tests, but the points obtained are only suitable for mobile infantry. After an incident at the training base, Riko quits, and on the way out, he is caught by a message about the invasion of the arachnids on Earth. Johnny's family and friends are dead, so he struggles to return a report to Sergeant Zim to join the war against insects.

“Cube”

The heroes of the film “Cube” find themselves in a real puzzle. Several strangers come to their senses in a cubic room, and through a single hatch they can go to exactly the same room. It seems to be an endless labyrinth with death traps from which there is no way out.

Among the main characters there arean engineer, a math-savvy schoolgirl, an ex-prisoner, a doctor, a police officer, and a young man with a mental disorder. Together they not only calculate the number of rooms (17,576), but also try to regain their freedom.

“Terminator”

In our review you will find only the best science fiction films. The list continues with "The Terminator", which made Arnold Schwarzenegger's taciturn hero a world-famous star.

The first part, filmed in 1984, tells us about a nuclear war that started because of artificial intelligence. The Skynet military computer enslaved humanity and left no hope of salvation. However, the Resistance has a new leader - John Connor. With his help, the car can only be defeated in 2029, but Skynet is not going to give up. He sends the cyborg Terminator to 1984 to kill John's mother. In turn, Connor sends a protector into the past - Kyle Reese.

“Jurassic Park”

Eminent director Steven Spielberg looked even further into the past. The “Best Fantasy Movies” rating is hard to imagine without the Jurassic Park project.

However, this is not about time travel. InGen, led by John Hammond, manages to recreate the DNA of dinosaurs. The professor's immediate plans include opening a park on a separate island, the main inhabitants of which would be dinosaurs.

At the request of investors Hammondorganizes a trial tour. Participation in it take: a lawyer, a mathematician, a pair of paleontologists and the professor's nephews. At this point, InGen's competitors infiltrate the island and disable the security system to steal the embryo samples. Former political activist Theo Faron is not interested in what is happening. One day, the hero is kidnapped by terrorists, among whom is his ex-wife Julian. She asks him to make an exit permit for one girl for a fee. Theo takes out documents, but young Ki can only move around the country in his company.

Suddenly, Julian is killed, and Faron finds out that his new companion is pregnant. The girl must be delivered at all costs to the ship of the Humanity Project, whose scientists are trying to find a cure for infertility.

“Avatar”

Finishing our list of "The Best Fantasy Movies" is James Cameron's "Avatar". The famous director himself began work on the script in the mid-1990s, but the technologies of those years could notto embody everything conceived by him.

In the year 2154 humanity is exploring new star systems. Resource companies threaten the existence of the “indigenous people” - the Na'vi. An avatar - a hybrid of a human and a Na'vi - is sent to the planet Pandora for a detailed study.
