Jerry Zucker is an American director, screenwriter and producer. He became famous thanks to comedy films and series, many of which he wrote and directed in collaboration with his older brother David. Directed by himself the melodrama "Ghost", which was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture nomination.
Childhood, personal life and early career
Jerry Zucker was born March 11, 1950 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from high school, he organized a comedy troupe in the city of Maddison with his older brother David and Jim Abrahams. The trio began writing scripts for sketches and TV shows in hopes of breaking into show business.
In 1987, Jerry Zucker married a girl named Janet. The couple have two children, son Bob and daughter Kate.

In 1977, the comedy trio Zucker-Abrahams-Zucker overtook their first success. The comedy Kentucky Solyanka, filmed according to their script and directed by John Landis, became a hit at the box office. In 1980, all three wrote and directedparody disaster film "Airplane", which grossed forty times its production budget in theaters.
Young filmmakers set about developing a comedy series that would make fun of the stereotypes and clichés of the police procedurals of those times. The series "Police Squad!" starring Leslie Nielsen was not a hit with viewers and was canceled after the sixth episode.
After this failure, Jerry Zucker and two of his longtime associates wrote and directed the parody spy film "Top Secret" and the black crime comedy "The Ruthless People". In 1988, they returned to the idea of a parody of the police genre and wrote the script for the film The Naked Gun. All three films in the successful comedy series were written by brothers Zucker and Jim Abrahams and directed by older brother Jerry David. After the release of the third part of The Naked Gun, the three comedians no longer worked together.

Solo works
In 1990, the youngest of the Zucker brothers decided to try his hand at an entirely new genre. He directed the melodrama "Ghost", which became the highest-grossing film of the year, grossing half a billion dollars, and received several Oscar nominations, including Best Picture.
After this success in 1995, JerryZucker directed the historical melodrama The First Knight. The film did not perform well at the box office, grossing $127 million on a budget of $55 and receiving mixed reviews from critics.
