In the course of the story, the focus shifts to the past of the city, where the story of Elena's evil twin, Catherine, the former mistress of both Salvatore brothers, is also formed into a single whole. The appearance of Petrova along with a family of ancient vampires led to plots against the city and the main character.

Thanks to the exciting pilot episode (in 2006) of the first season, the series reached three and a half million viewers, and the following seasons maintained an audience of two million viewers.

It was the first episode of the television show "The Vampire Diaries" that became the most popular on the Web. Initially, the series received mixed reviews, but critics agreed with a positive reception as the first season apparently progressed.

The film received numerous nominations for film awards, winning four Audience Choice Awards.

The film was created by the same people who gave fans of the genre the wonderful projects Lost and Tron: Legacy.
