Roles and actors: "Loop of time"

Sci-fi films often revolve around traveling through space and time. Director Rian Johnson gave the world a story in the center of which are two different characters who are the same person. Both characters find themselves together in 2044, so the creators of the picture faced a very difficult task. Modern make-up easily allows you to create the effect of aging, but it was decided that the hero will be played by different actors. Looper is worth watching not only because the young version of Bruce Willis was brilliantly portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, but also because of the quality of the script.

Storyline

In the near future, time travel became possible, and every tenth inhabitant of the planet is endowed with the ability to telekinesis. By 2074, power structures have extended their control to all areas of society. At the same time, the mafiosi are trying to resist the state. To get rid of enemies, criminals use a time machine and send people 30 years back with it. Here they are engaged in loopers - special mercenaries whokill the victim immediately after moving it.

Every killer knows that one day he will have to shoot himself in the head, but this is not such a big price compared to the monetary reward. Heroes Joe and Seth work in pairs, but Seth, unlike his colleague, did not have the courage to pull the trigger at the right time, for which he paid dearly. And the main character successfully retired, moved to Shanghai and fell in love. When the moment came to go to the death pen alty, his wife was shot dead, and he himself went to 2044 in order to take revenge, thereby changing the course of history.

Creation and rental

Director Rian Johnson announced in 2010 the filming of his new film starring Bruce Willis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It also became known that the former will play an older version of the latter, and makeup will be used to give a resemblance. The script was taken up by Johnson himself, who also decided to assemble his own team from those with whom he had already worked. Prior to this, the director's filmography included only one full-length picture "Brick", in which Joseph also played the main role. Therefore, it is not surprising that he again invited Levitt to his project. In addition to him, among other performers there are no less famous actors.

Looper was a hit at the box office, thanks in large part to its star-studded cast and solid storyline. And the feedback from critics and viewers has been overwhelmingly positive.

Two different Joes

As the story progresses, the viewermeets young Joe and his older copy. Bruce Willis appears here rather as an antagonist who is obsessed with the idea of revenge. His hero is ready to kill innocent children in order to prevent one of them from becoming the head of a mafia clan in the future. He is confronted by young Joe, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is completely made up. He, in turn, believes that history can be rewritten, so he tries to act rationally. Despite the fact that they, in fact, play the same character, their images and characters are different from each other. But nevertheless, the similarity in manners and behavior that the actors have achieved is striking. Looper is not only about the changes in history, but also about the evolution of each individual personality, which was masterfully demonstrated by Willis and Levitt.

Sarah

The role of the mother of a five-year-old boy who is destined to turn into a villain was played by the famous British actress Emily Blunt. She perfectly got used to the image of Sarah, which is a strong and resistant-looking woman who hides her vulnerability under this mask. Emily's career began not so long ago, and now she is rapidly going uphill. She won a Golden Globe for her role in Gideon's Daughter, after which she starred in a number of melodramas, the most famous of which was The Devil Wears Prada. Gradually, she began to change her role, because only in this way can actors develop in their profession. "Looper" became for Blunt a kind of transitional film, after which she began to be invitedinto more masculine films like "Edge of Tomorrow" or "Killer".

Other roles

No movie is complete without secondary characters, who sometimes even become more memorable than the main characters. In addition to the aforementioned celebrities, Johnson managed to get famous actor Jeff Daniels in his picture, who played the head of the loopers. Of his last works, such as "The Martian" and "Steve Jobs" stand out, but most remembered him as a young man thanks to the film "Dumb and Dumber".

Noah Seagan portrayed on the screen the image of an experienced fighter Kid, who hunts for Joe. The actor mostly appears in supporting roles, of which there are many in his filmography. It can also be seen in the director's last film "Brick".

Important is the storyline of the partner of the protagonist Seth. He was played by rising actor Paul Dano. Viewers may know him from such films as "The Captives", "12 Years a Slave" and "Youth". Perhaps it was because of this success of the picture about the future that Rian Johnson was chosen to direct the 8th episode of Star Wars. In the meantime, it is in the works, you can appreciate the "Looper" and once again enjoy the great acting.
