Many fans of French cinema know the name Catherine Deneuve, but not everyone knows that she had an equally talented and beautiful-looking sister, Francoise Dorléac. It is about her that will be discussed in this article.

Biography

Francoise Dorléac was born on 1942-21-03 in Paris. Her father is the famous French actor Maurice Dorléac, her mother is Rene Jeanne Simono, a theater and film actress. In addition to Francoise, two more daughters were born in this family: Catherine Fabien (1943-22-10) and Sylvia (1946). There was also an older sister - Danielle (mother's mother), who was born in 1939.

Since both parents were theater actors, it is not surprising that all the girls, one way or another, connected their lives with cinema and theatrical art.

In childhood, Francoise Dorléac was not very obedient and was a very active child. The age difference with her younger sister Catherine was 18 months. The girls lived in the same room and were very friendly, although there were small quarrels between them.

The sisters were very different in character: Francoise had a negative attitude towards smoking and alcohol, in foodwas abstinent, but Catherine, on the contrary, ate a lot, smoked cigarettes and was not averse to drinking.

Beginning of professional activity

At the age of 10, thanks to her father, Francoise participates in the dubbing of the main character in the film "Heidi". At the age of 15, the girl was expelled from the lyceum. In 1957, she entered the Conservatory of Dramatic Art and at the same time studied acting with René Girard.

Françoise played her first role in 1957 in the short film Lies. In the feature film Wolves in the Sheepfold, the young actress played in 1960. In addition to acting, Francoise tries his hand at modeling. For some time she worked in the fashion house Christian Dior.

Actress career

The first significant work, after which Francoise gained fame, was the role in the film "Man in Rio". In the feature film "Tender Skin" she played the flight attendant Nicole. This is one of the most successful works of the actress. The film was nominated for the Cannes Film Festival, but did not receive the desired award. The Palme d'Or was awarded to director Jacques Demy for the film "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg", in which, ironically, Françoise's sister, Catherine Deneuve, played the main role. After the film festival, the media began to inflate the topic of "sister rivalry".

The last work of Francoise was the film "Girls from Rochefort". In this film, she starred with her sister Catherine.

Personal relationships

Francoiseshe was so absorbed in work that there was simply not enough space for men in her life. Unlike her, the younger sister left the parental nest early, arranging her personal life. Catherine Deneuve gave birth to a son at the age of 20 and raised him on her own. Francoise was madly in love with her nephew, but she did not even think about her own children.

She had a brief affair with actor Jean-Pierre Cassel. Francoise met him in one of the nightclubs in 1960. In a memoir published in 2004, Jean-Pierre calls the actress "the love of his youth."

During the filming of the film "Tender Skin", Francoise began an affair with the director of the film, Francois Truffaut. But very quickly, their love relationship grew into a strong friendship.

Guy Bedos, who partnered with the actress in Tonight or Never, revealed in an interview with Liberation that Françoise Dorléac was his fiancée.

The death of the actress

Francoise died at the height of her acting career. This tragedy occurred on 1967-26-06. Upon returning from filming, which took place in Finland, the girl was in a hurry for a flight to Nice airport. The haste became fatal. While driving a car, the girl lost control and got into an accident. The car overturned on the highway ten kilometers from Nice and broke out. The death of Françoise Dorléac was terrible - she was burned alive. The young actress was buried in the town of Saint-Port, where the girls spent their holidays in their childhood.
