Nevertheless, Dmitry Svetozarov, after graduating from school, received a philological education, worked for several years as a translator. However, the passion for cinema won, the guy became a student of the Higher Director's Courses. The diploma work of a talented young man was called "Sunglasses", after its successful completion he became the director of the Lenfilm studio.

Bright debut

It is interesting that Dmitry Svetozarov made his "invasion" into the world of big cinema in the era of stagnation, when new film projects came out less and less, were subjected to merciless censorship and looked alike, like "twin brothers". For the first time the director announced himself in 1983, presenting the sports drama "Speed" to the public. They started talking about him and his work, as the film helped the master to declare his intention to come to grips with the field of genre cinema, which was practically not affected in the Soviet Union.

Films made after "Speed" helped the master to consolidate his success. In particular, his next film story, describing the events associated with a serious accident that occurred in the Leningrad metro, made a splash. Interestingly, Breakthrough, which was released in 1986, became the second disaster film in the history of cinema.

Losing streak

Perestroika had a negative impact on the fate of many creative people, and Svetozarov was no exception. The maestro's style began to be more rigid, he lost his willingness to compromise, which was not to the liking of cinematicbosses. A negative attitude towards Dmitry's films appeared in 1988, when he filmed the drama "Without a Uniform".

The next picture, created by the master, did not hit the rental at all. It was the thriller "Dogs", which became the first film project belonging to this genre in Russia. Officials did not like the fact that the director took up the study of the dark sides of the human soul. The drama was deemed overly violent, resulting in a ban.

Director Dmitry Svetozarov did not give up his profession, having experienced several failures, he managed to maintain his own special style. The tape that gave him real fame was released in 1991. The breakthrough film was The Arithmetic of Murder, which belongs to the category of psychological detectives. Also fruitful for the director was 2002, when he filmed the serial drama "By the Name of the Baron". Critics called the film an excellent gangster saga, with an atmosphere and plot reminiscent of the famous foreign production Once Upon a Time in America. Finally, there is hardly a person who has never heard of such a famous work of the master as the serial film “Crimeand punishment." The plot was borrowed from the work of the same name by Dostoevsky.

It is believed that it was Svetozarov Dmitry Iosifovich who introduced the fashion for TV shows in Russia. The TV project "Streets of Broken Lights", presented to the public in 1997, made a splash. The soap opera, which tells about the adventures of brave law enforcement officers, was filmed over a decade, in total, viewers saw over 150 episodes.
