One day he decides to get out of the Russianquarter and make a trip to Manhattan. A performance of a naked cowboy is planned there, and this fact interested the old man very much. Hurrying to catch the show, he walks a zebra crossing at a red light and is hit by a car. Jane Watson delivers the injured Goldiner to the hospital, but this does not save her from the trial. According to a court decision, she is obliged to take care of an old man who has a broken leg for 80 hours. Every day she has to come to his apartment and help him with the housework - cooking, cleaning and washing things.
An unexpected twist
The old man with her indulges in memories and then it turns out that Jane herself is from Kharkov. Her parents moved to America when she was only three years old. my father got into big trouble at work and was forced to leave the country. After asking his nurse about the circumstances of her parent's dismissal, he comes to the conclusion that this is his doing. It was Goldiner who was the party organizer who insisted on the dismissal of the man. The working hours have already ended, but the girl continues to walk and help the old man. Even though he spread rumors all over the block that they were having a sexual relationship.
