In 1984, the entire cinema was literally shaken by a new fantastic action movie called "Terminator". The main character is an antagonist, a terminator robot who arrived in the past in order to destroy the mother of the main enemy of all cyborgs. But a soldier from the same future intervenes in his plans, who is ready to protect the girl and save the world as many times as necessary. And we all remember his name well - this is Kyle Reese.

Character biography

The exact date of Kyle's birth is not known. This is approximately 2002-2004, the time known as the post-apocalyptic period in the film. Growing up, he joined the ranks of the resistance soldiers and rose to the rank of sergeant. A certain John Connor became his boss, but Kyle Reese himself did not even suspect that he was his father. In 2019, without any ulterior motive, he follows the terminator to 1984 to save the girl Sarah, on whom the robot is preparing an assassination attempt. Having met her in real life, the soldier falls in love, and between young peopleromantic relationships begin. Thus, Kyle becomes the father of John Connor, but, unfortunately, dies in the past at the hands of the terminator. Nevertheless, he manages to convey important information about the future to Sarah Connor, as well as combat skills.

Appearing in sequels

In the first part of this film, Kyle Reese and the terminator are two inextricably linked characters. One is positive, a soldier determined to save the entire planet. The second is negative, a robot programmed to kill and destroy all living things. However, this landmark film has a very long trail, consisting of five subsequent parts. The role of Kyle in them, of course, is no longer so great, but the character himself remains very significant. In the second part, a soldier appears for one minute in Sarah's dream, as always, warning of danger. In the third film, no one mentions him, but in the fourth film, Kyle Reese is again the main character. Only now we see him as a teenager who lives in an abandoned Los Angeles. Despite his youth, he fights against the machines and dreams of becoming a member of the resistance movement.

Alternate reality

The story of a killer robot sent into the past haunted Hollywood directors for a long time. Therefore, in 2015, Alan Taylor, based on the achievements of Cameron, filmed a film called "Terminator Genisys", where Schwarzenegger also played the main role. But here we are shown an alternative history, completely different from all the previous ones. The character of Kyle Reese is the main soldier who goes to the same ill-fated 1984 in order to protect Sarah Connor. However, the world of the past is no longer the same as it was before. Kyle is met by killing machines and Sarah herself, who already knows everything about the upcoming nuclear war.

The actors who played this character

An unchanging classic for all fans of "Terminator" forever will be Michael Biehn, who played the role of Kyle Reese. The actor appeared in the first and second tapes and then broke the contract with the director. However, his hero was relegated to the background, and when they were "resurrected" again, it took a boy to play. Therefore, in the fourth part of the future soldier, Anton Yelchin, an American with Russian roots, plays. In the alternate reality, or rather, in the fifth part of the film, Kyle is played by Jay Courtney. This young actor looks a bit like Michael Biehn in his youth, which is why he got this role. However, fans of the original "Terminator" still disliked the continuation with an alternative ending, however, like all the actors who played there.

Temporary confusion

Film fans are well aware that Kyle Reese was the first major character to raise the issue of time paradoxes. Revisiting science fiction films, we are more and more convinced that time travel is an activity that has huge, sometimes inexplicable consequences. By changing a small detail in the past, you can completely change the present. This is what we are shown in the "Terminator". The original plan is to kill Sarah Connor, because she is the mother of John, the main enemy of robots. Future machines believed that by removing one woman, they would deprive the world of a savior, no more. But as it turned out in practice, the world has changed completely, with no chance of return.

John's father. Who could it be?

This question really makes us rack our brains for not giving the right answer to it. The filmmakers themselves have two quite sane theories in this regard. The first is a vicious circle. Kyle Reese, by definition, had to go back in time and become the father of his own boss in the future. If this had not happened, John would simply not have been born. Based on this theory, many began to build entire schemes that tell about parallel universes that are formed due to the actions of time travelers. The second version of the directors is that John Connor had, as it were, two fathers. They could be both Kyle and Sarah's boyfriend named Stan Morsky, who is mentioned in the film. However, no one talks about where her son's innate leadership qualities would come from then.
