The vase drawing technique is one of the stages of teaching academic drawing in art educational institutions. Students of such schools paint mostly marble or plaster vessels. If you are an aspiring artist, choose the simplest vase shape.

In this case, it is better to draw on a vertically placed sheet of paper. However, if you have a low wide vase, the leaf can also be positioned horizontally.

At the first stage, starting the task of how to draw a vase, we determine the axis of our drawing. To do this, mark a vertical line in the middle of the sheet and, drawing a perpendicular to it near the bottom edge of the sheet, set the position of the bottom of the vase. From this point upward along the vertical line, we determine the height of the vase. At the same time, trace to the top edge of the sheet there should be room for flowers.

To understand how to draw a vase, you need to figure out what parts it consists of. It may have a convex part, a neck, some other details. In our example, this is a spherical convex part and a cylindrical neck. It should be determined at what approximately height begins andthe neck ends, where the most convex part is located, and draw light horizontal lines through these points. These are auxiliary lines, and it is better to draw them with a hard pencil without pressure.

Next, you need to find out the ratio of the width of the vase and its height in different parts, as well as its individual parts in thickness to each other. Mark on the horizontal lines segments approximately equal to the thickness of the neck, the convex part. Now you need to connect the end points of these segments with a thin line, observing the symmetry of the right and left sides of the object.

We figured out the contours of the vessel. Now we need to think about how to draw a vase so that it looks realistic. The bottom, neck of the product and the junction of the cylindrical part with the spherical, according to the laws of perspective, are usually drawn in the form of an ellipse. Erase the extra lines that you used to build with an eraser and circle your drawing along the outline.

How to draw a vase so that the volume of the object is visible? Features of the shape of the object are conveyed by light chiaroscuro. Always, when applying shadows in a drawing, first decide from which side the light falls on you. Places further away from the light source appear darker, and vice versa. The same can be said about the concave and convex places of the vase. When hatching, try to follow the contours of the object with lines, although direct hatching in different directions is also possible. First, mark the most concave and most convex parts of the vessel with chiaroscuro and only then start detailing.

Pay special attention to the neck. Here you need to put a shadow so that you can see that you can put flowers in a vase. Since there is little light coming in, make a darker shadow in this place.

And finally, having finished this part of the drawing, you can think about how to draw a vase of flowers. This is not very difficult if you outline each flower in the form of a circle, inside the contour of which the bud will be located.
