After on the Larry King show, the actress stated that her father was a closeted homosexual and led a promiscuous lifestyle. Despite the fact that her father was gay, Anne Heche claimed that he repeatedly raped her until she was 12 and contracted genital herpes. According to the actress, he raped her because he was a sexually deviant person prone to various perversions.
Three months after his father's death, Heche's 18-year-old brother Nathan died in a car accident. The official story was that he fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a tree, although Heche claims it was suicide. The rest of the Heche family subsequently moved to Chicago, where Ann attended the progressive Francis W. Parker School.
In 1985, when the future actress was 16, an agent spotted her in a school play and secured her an audition for a role on a daytime soap opera. Anne Heche passed the audition without much difficulty. But her mother insisted that she finish high school. Shortly before graduating from high school in 1987, Heche was offered a dual role on the daytime soap opera Underworld.
