In the center of the city of Kirov there is a Youth Theater on Spasskaya. This theater has existed since the first half of the 20th century. His repertoire today includes performances not only for children, but also for adults.
About the theater
In 1935, the Youth Theater on Spasskaya was created. The theater was then a group of creative young people. The new troupe played its first performance in June 1936. It was a play by V. Lyubimova "Seryozha Streltsov". M. S. Shokhov became the chief director and artistic director of the theater. In the same 1936, the Youth Theater received its own building, in which it still lives. The building has been refurbished several times. The dressing rooms, stage, backstage, auditorium, administrative premises, foyer, and workshops were rebuilt. The last reconstruction took place in 1985-1986
Remarkable actors, directors, artists, talented and courageous people who were not afraid of any experiments have worked in the theater at all times.
In 1937, the Youth Theater was named after the writer N. Ostrovsky. During the war years, the theater toured the Kirov region. In the 90s, the N. Ostrovsky Youth Theater was renamed the Theater on Spasskaya.
Since 2004Vladimir Gribanov is the director of the year.
The project "Migration" was created on the basis of the theater. This is a group of dancers, thanks to which choreographic performances appeared in the repertoire of the theater.

Premier season 2015-2016
This season, the Youth Theater on Spasskaya has prepared several new performances for its audience. The theater presented three premieres at once.
The first one is called "Dream me". This is a performance based on M. Roshchin's story "Echelon". The performance is intended for viewers 12 years of age or older. The play "Dream Me" is about the Great Patriotic War. He talks about the fact that the Victory was forged not only by those who defended our Motherland at the fronts with weapons in their hands. A significant contribution to this common cause was made by those who provided the fighters with a reliable rear. They believed in Victory, faithfully waited, did not sleepnights, they prayed and asked their dear people on the battlefields: "Dream me!.."
The second premiere is a play based on W. Shakespeare - "Two Veronians". This is one of the early comedies of the great playwright, which was never published during his lifetime. "Two Veronians" is the story of two couples in love who formed a love polygon. The performance has everything - humor, adventure, flight, witches, betrayal and, of course, according to the laws of the comedy genre - dell'arte - a happy ending. The production is intended for viewers aged 16 and over.
The third premiere of this season is the play "Munchausen" based on the works of R. E. Raspe. Everyone knows this literary character. He is famous for telling fables about his exploits. Munchausen is a liar, artist, improviser and inventor. The performance is recommended for viewers aged 18 and over.
