Writing career. Acquaintance with the co-author

Victor Bazhenov's debut as a writer took place in 2002, when his first novel "Operation Near Lukomorye" was published. The work was the beginning of a cycle called "Lukomorye" ("Far Far Away State").

Like all Viktor Bazhenov's books, this novel was co-written with Oleg Shelonin, another Russian humorous fantasy writer.

The authors met in the mid-1990s at the Chkalovsky market on the outskirts of Ryazan. Shelonin was a salesman - like many, he had to leave his previous job due to lack of salary and try to earn money standing behind a tray with video cassettes, batteries, razors and other similar goods.

Viktor Bazhenov worked as a loader in the same market. On the day he met Shelonin, he was given thesalary, and he decided to buy a cassette of a movie recommended to him by friends.

Bazhenov's choice fell on Shelonin's counter. He tried to convince the buyer that instead of the film "Romeo and Juliet" it is better to take some other cassette. In the end, they agreed that Victor would take both films, and the next day he would return the one he did not like.
