"Tea Theater": history, repertoire, troupe

Only a few years ago, the "Theater on Tea" (Odessa) was opened. Despite this, its poster offers residents and guests of the city a diverse and rather big repertoire. Mostly young actors work in the troupe.

About the theater

"The Teahouse Theater" (Odessa) is a creative laboratory. The year of its foundation is 2010. The laboratory was opened by graduates of the Theater Lyceum. The troupe includes young directors and actors from Odessa and Kyiv.

The auditorium is small, designed for 50 seats. Each performance is held with the same full house.

The theater does not yet have its own language and method of communicating with the public. But he is still learning and looking for ways to talk to current and future audiences. The theater wants to be understandable and interesting to them, since the performance is a live communication, a dialogue between artists and the audience.

Recently "Teatr na Chaynaya" has opened its own studio, its young students take part in productions.

Ave Maria Ivanovna

In 2013, the "Theater on Tea" presented to the public a performance that is still going on and is one of the viewer's favorites. It is called "Ave Maria Ivanovna". A production in the genre of a village series was created. The plot is based on the play by D. Kalinin. The performance lasts just over an hour and is filled with folk songs.

This is a touching everyday story about the first love of simple village youth, straightforward people who lived in the 30s of the 20th century. They are free, not burdened by the excesses of civilization and enjoy life in nature. Heroes canfeel and sympathize.

The main characters are the first beauty Masha and her two suitors. One of them is an accordion player and the first guy in the village Andrey. The second is the shepherd Petka. The guys with all their persistence seek Maria's love, dream of marrying her and regularly fight for her with each other, but she still can't choose which one she likes best. And then there are changes, the formation of collective farms, etc. Collectivization has become a serious problem and even a tragedy for the peasants.

"Ave Maria Ivanovna" is a performance about ordinary people, but at the same time it makes you sincerely empathize with the characters, since this is a life story. The play is both funny and sad. More than once the audience will have to cry, because the heroes got a difficult era, first collectivization, then the war. But there is more humor in this story than sadness. The jokes here are kind, they show the openness of the main characters, their unity with nature and closeness to God. The performance does not make fun of the narrow-mindedness or stupidity of ordinary people.

There are few decorations on the stage during the performance, to a minimum, since the main thing here is acting, the interaction of artists with the audience. There must be unity between the hall and the stage.

Although this is a modern play, it does not contain the vulgarity, pretentiousness and perversion that are inherent in most works of the 21st century. This is a heartfelt, sincere and ingenuous story, which is exactly what we all lack today.

Actors performing roles in the play "Ave MariaIvanovna", wonderfully get used to their roles, and it seems to the audience that they have a real village in front of them and not artists, but really Mashka, Petka and Andrey.

Where is it

"Theater on Chaynaya" is located in the building at number 21/1 on Karantinnaya Street. There are several attractions nearby. Among them: the stadium "Chernomorets", the park named after Taras Shevchenko, "Green" theater. Next to Quarantine there are streets: Jewish, Troitskaya, Osipova, Kanatnaya, Devolanovsky Spusk.

"Theater on Chaynaya", despite its youth, is already quite popular in Odessa. Viewers leave about it for the most part rave reviews. The audience finds the repertoire interesting, and the actors talented and brilliant in their roles, they don't act, they live the lives of their characters.

One of the audience's favorite performances is "The main thing is when?". It was staged based on the play by Rodion Beletsky "The Conversation That Never Happened". The audience writes that this production makes both laugh and cry. There is something to think about here, and you can even get comfort for the soul, if suddenly a black hole has formed in it from a big loss. The actors perfectly transform into their characters, they manage to convey the necessary emotions to the audience. They play in such a way that "goosebumps" run down the skin and the sharpness of sensations at times even rolls over. You just forget that you are in the theater and you start to perceive what is happening as if it were allreally. At the end of the action, many spectators leave the hall in silence, they simply have no words from their impressions.

Those who have been to this production are highly recommended to see it to everyone who has not yet seen it. After it, many will conclude that in fact you can always find time to talk, meet with family and friends, because one day such an opportunity may not be. This performance will make you remember your friends and you will really want to call those with whom communication is so rare. Some theater fans have seen this production more than once, and they want to return to it again.
