Attention of adults, applause every time was desired by the children's heart of Karina Serbina. She performed at all matinees in kindergarten, then at school, but after graduating from high school, on the advice of her mother, she began to prepare herself for … economists.

The girl diligently attended preparatory courses, the prestigious faculty of Moscow State University shone from afar, but Karina, secretly from her mother, an economist, became a student of the vocal department of the famous Gnessin School. The choice was right, but my mother reconciled with him only after hearing the broadcast of her daughter's speech on the radio.

Biography of the future opera diva

Karina Serbina, née Mkrtchyan, was born in Moscow. The father passed away early, but remained in the memory of his daughters as an unusually bright, smiling person. Mom had to raise two daughters alone. Becoming a student at a music school, Karina helped her mother. The girl sang in the choir, in a restaurant, and even ran her own small business. It was a school of life, which later came in handy for her.

In 1993 she graduated from the Gnessin Music College (class of V. Alexandrova) and entered the Russian Academy of Music in the class of V. Gromova. At the same time, she took private vocal lessons from G. Kuznetsova, andin 1999 she completed an internship in Greece. Since 1999, Karina Serbina, a soloist at the Bolshoi, has collaborated with the Novaya Opera musical theater in parallel.

Lucky occasion

In her student years, the girl did not have her own clavier of the opera "La Traviatte" (in which she performed the part of Violetta), so Galina Sergeevna Kuznetsova's gift - an old, pre-revolutionary clavier of 1890, became a kind of reference book for the vocalist. She cherishes it and still uses it.

In an interview, Serbina admits that she believes in a lucky break that did not bypass her. Once, during an audition (it was her turn), the head of the opera troupe entered the class, saying that the actress who sang the part of Violetta was ill. Karina's voice fits perfectly into the performance. So she began to sing in La Traviatte.

In 1999, at the Maria Callas International Competition, she won a silver medal, although she only thought to “show herself” there. Currently, the opera singer's repertoire includes the roles of Raquelina from the opera The Beautiful Miller's Girl by G. Paisiello, the Snow Maiden from the opera of the same name by Rimsky-Korsakov, Antonida from Glinka's Ivan Susanin, the Queen of the Night (Mozart's opera The Magic Flute), her beloved Violetta from La Traviata by G. Verdi and so on.
