Summary
The action takes place in the Russian outback. Grandmother Malanya received a letter from her pilot son, Hero of the Soviet Union, in which he invited her to visit Moscow. The son advised his mother to fly by plane, as it would be cheaper. After reading the letter, the grandmother found out from her grandson Shurka, who lived with her, when his next vacation would begin, and left the hut. The boy listened with excitement as Grandmother Malanya was talking to her neighbors, telling them about her son's invitation and asking what was the best thing to do. All the neighbors unanimously urgedMalanyu accept the invitation. After returning, she began to dictate to her grandson the text of the telegram for her son, in order to send it to Moscow later. In the course of work, the boy unsuccessfully tried to explain to his grandmother that it was necessary to write briefly. Otherwise, you will have to pay a lot of money. Grandmother Malanya did not listen to her grandson, mockingly called him "a literate person." As a result, the telegram was written the way the grandmother wanted, and taken to the post office. According to Shurka, about twenty-two rubles will have to be paid for it.
An old woman is a typical villager who is afraid of everything new. City life scares her. So she invited her neighbor with the intention of asking for advice. Egor Lizunov worked as a school supply manager and flew on an airplane several times. The grandmother asked him to tell "everything in order." As a reward, she poured the man homemade beer. During the conversation, Yegor drank a sufficient amount of this alcoholic drink and therefore became tipsy. At first, his story was perceived by an elderly woman as normal, she even asked her grandson to write everything down. Then the drunk Yegor began to scare Malanya with his advice. He talked about sweets that are distributed to all passengers after takeoff. He talked about how he once saw with his own eyes a burning wing of an airplane.
After seeing Yegor off, the woman suggested that Shurka take the train, to which the grandson reasonably remarked that it would cost more, and it would take more time. Then Malanya decided not to go anywhere at all and put her grandson to write a letter to her uncle under her dictation. In it, she said that she changed her mindto fly an airplane when "I consulted with knowledgeable people."
In the process of writing the letter, Shurka added a few lines from himself. He asked his uncle to write a letter to Malanya and explain that flying in an airplane is not as dangerous as Yegor, the supply manager, said. Shurka really wanted to see Moscow with his own eyes, and not be content with information from textbooks on history and geography. So he asked his uncle to convince the old woman. The letter was written, personally signed by Malanya and sent.
This is what the work (authored by Shukshin) "Village Residents" tells about. It is not difficult to briefly retell the story described in the story. It is much harder to convey the talent of the author, who, in a simple and understandable language for all readers, showed the inner world of his characters, their fears and dreams.
