In the 1990s, the fashion for youth horror films captured the cinema, and in many respects its trendsetter was the second series of the popular horror - Scream 2. The actors who played the leading roles in the film soon became one of the most recognizable, because subsequently many parodies were made on their heroes. So what's so special about this Wes Craven project?

Storyline

It's been nearly two years since the bloody drama at Woodsboro, but Sydney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell) has never been able to forget the tragedy that befell herself, her friends and family. The girl became a student in another city, but the past does not let her go there either - her friend and witness of past events, Randy, is studying in the same college. Meanwhile, Gail Weathers published a bestseller about the dark history of a small town, and the filmmakers decided to film the work.

So, the horror movie "Stab" hits the screens, and it again turns into a nightmare for Sidney, her fellow students and newfound lover. at the premieretwo lovers die in a sensational hit, and now all attention is again riveted on Prescott. Gale immediately appears in the town, as well as Officer Dewey. The company is eager to find the killer, who has already begun to methodically exterminate people in the area, while not forgetting to call the victims first, as was the case in the first part of the tape.

Role players

It is worth mentioning separately the cast of the picture "Scream 2". Actors who starred in horror films are quite popular today, and many of them have managed to make a good career in a big movie. First of all, this applies to Timothy Olyphant and Jerry O'Connell. By the way, the latter portrayed the beloved heroine Neve Campbell, a young doctor Derek. Also present in the horror was the hero, who was only mentioned in the first part - the narcissistic Cotton, played by Liev Schreiber.

Of course, Neve Campbell remained the main star of the film "Scream 2". Courteney Cox and David Arquette, however, as in the first series, also played an important role in the plot.

Many viewers noted the convincing performance of Jada Pinkett Smith and Omar Epps - they first encountered a maniac in the Scream 2 project. Jamie Kennedy, remembered by the public for the original part, repeated his image quite convincingly, getting much more screen time in the sequel.

Secrecy

The creators of the project wanted to preserve the intrigue, so during the filming the script was entrusted to be read only by the performers of key roles and directlystudio management. At the same time, the name of the killer remained a secret, because the last pages of the script were missing. However, even the existing text somehow got on the Internet, so Kevin Williamson rewrote a number of scenes already during the filming process.

The final ten pages of the script, in which the maniac had a name, were printed on special gray paper that was protected from photocopying. The actors had to sign a special non-disclosure agreement about the plot and its ending. The first draft of the script contained the names of three different killers. Subsequently, Wilmson admitted that he came up with many of the details of the second part of the horror movie during the work on the first one.

Interesting cameos

Especially attentive viewers have noticed several unusual cameos in the film "Scream 2". The actors portraying the audience in the cinema, at first glance, do not require much attention, but if you look closely, you can see Rose McGowan, who played Tatum Riley, Sydney's friend, in the previous series.

The journalist interviewing Cotton is the aforementioned screenwriter Kevin Williamson. In turn, director Wes Craven portrayed the doctor in the background at the clinic.

Filming

Filming was carried out from mid-June to the end of August 1997 - production began a month and a half after the premiere of the first episode of the horror.

The main part of the voices voiced in the draft wasrecorded in post-production. Nevertheless, the voice of Roger Jackson, who voiced the maniac, will surely be remembered for a long time by the participants in the film "Scream 2" - the actors received calls from him directly during the filming of the necessary scenes. Wes Craven intended to create a special tension at such moments. Jackson, as a rule, was in a place from which he remained invisible to the "potential victim".

It has been almost two decades since the release of Scream 2. During this time, many exciting youth films were shot, but this story has not been forgotten by film fans to this day and has become a classic of the genre.
