Mozgovoy Leonid Pavlovich is a theater and film actor who made his debut on the big screen only at the age of 51. Winner of many Russian film awards.
Childhood and youth
Leonid Mozgovoy was born in Tula two months before the start of World War II, on April 17, 1941. His father was a military man, and the family spent the entire childhood of the actor wandering around different garrisons. Subsequently, they settled in a small closed town near Sverdlovsk.
Leonid Mozgovoy studied at school diligently, but paid more attention to extra-curricular activities, or rather amateur performances. He dreamed of an acting career from an early age and sought to realize his dream.
He still has the receiver "Tourist", which became the actor's talisman. He was awarded it for winning the reading competition, where Leonid amazed everyone by reading Turgenev's poem with such expressiveness that goosebumps ran.
After graduating from school, Leonid, at the insistence of his father, entered a flight school in Kazakhstan. There he quickly organized an amateur art circle. After another speech, a teacher, a young lieutenant, approached him. He said:"You have to love the plane the way you love the stage."
After this fateful phrase Brain Leonid, an actor in his soul and thoughts, wrote a letter of expulsion. And in 1959 he went to Moscow to make his dream come true.
Students
In the capital, Mozgovoy twice tried to enter VGIK, but failed. Then he decided to try his luck in Leningrad. From the first time he entered the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema, where he studied from 1961 to 1965. He was immensely lucky, because he got on a course with Boris Zon, the founder of the Youth Theater movement in the country, a student of Stanislavsky himself.
This was the last course of the Zone. And it turned out to be quite loud: actress Natalya Tenyakova (Baba Shura in the film "Love and Doves"), theater director Lev Dodin and others.
The Faculty of Dramatic Art gave Mozgovoy a lot. He reflected his memories of the years of study and his mentor in the 2011 book "Boris Zon's School".
Working on stage
Leonid Mozgovoy is an actor whose biography developed almost the way he wanted. After graduation, he went to conquer the literary stage. In 1967 he became the winner of the reading competition among artists in Leningrad. Since then, his career in this direction has been continuously developing. Leonid Mozgovoy calls himself a museum reader, because he is often offered to recite poems by various poets in their museums.
Brainfights for the revival of the art of the word. Even in his work book there is such a wording: "master of the artistic word".
Work in the theater
Leonid Mozgovoy, whose biography is inextricably linked with theatrical activity, after graduating from the institute in 1965, he came to the musical comedy theater, where he served for five years.
In 1975, Mozgovoy decided to perform alone. Since then, he has been working in the genre of one actor. He is a frequent guest at the "Petersburg Concert", where his solo performances "Notes on the Cuffs", "Lolita", "I am Hamlet" and others are staged.
In total, there are fourteen solo performances in his piggy bank. He is very sensitive to the surrounding reality, which is reflected in his works. Mozgovoi tours a lot, but prefers to perform on small venues in order to have contact with every viewer, which he was deprived of while working in the museum theater. Then they even had to play performances in stadiums.
Recently, theatrical works are dominated by classical works. For example, "The Black Monk" by Chekhov A. P.
Working in movies
Leonid Mozgovoy always wanted to act in films. Fascinated by the work of Lenfilm, he went to auditions and even participated in the extras a couple of times. But then I decided for myself that such a flashing on the screen is not worthy of a real actor, and just began to wait for a suitable role, his role.
The wait was long. Mozgovoy's film debut happened only in 1992. He starred asChekhov in the film "Stone". And got this role, too, by accident. Vera Novikova, the second director of the film, was an old acquaintance of Mozgovoy, and just on the eve of the auditions, they met and started talking. Vera invited Leonid to meet the chief director A. Sokurov. Their conversation lasted over two hours, eventually making their film debut.
After the premiere, the 51-year-old actor was called a discovery. But the directors were in no hurry to invite him to other roles. His next film was "Moloch", again directed by Sokurov.
Mozgovoy got the role of Hitler. He prepared for a long time, read a ton of books, watched miles of newsreels. The difficulty was that the role had to be played in German. Mozgovoi memorized all the lines, and the Germans who dubbed him said that the pronunciation of the Russian actor was perfect.
Two years later, another picture of Sokurov came out - "Taurus", where Mozgovoy played Lenin. This film showed the viewer a completely different leader of the proletariat. The director and actor literally exposed the soul of an old dying man who repents of his deed.
There are only 24 works in Mozgovoy's cinematographic piggy bank. This does not upset the actor, rather the opposite - he is satisfied with the quality of his films. And he knows that his audience approves of what has been done and is looking forward to new roles.
Awards
In 1999 and 2001 he was awarded the Golden Aries Award for Best Actor in the films Moloch and Taurus. For the performance of the role of V. I. Lenin received the most prestigious award"Nika" in 2001.
The title of Honored Artist was awarded in 2002.
Leonid Mozgovoy does not pursue awards, he wants to bring joy to his audience, to give unforgettable emotions and moments of life. He's doing great!
