Not so long ago, a new type of heroes appeared in detective series, who have extraordinary abilities and help in investigating the most complex and intricate criminal cases. Such characters are in the multi-part films "I See - I Know", "I Know Your Secrets", "Freud's Method". In the series "The Sniffer", the protagonist's unique gift also comes to the aid of the investigation.

About "The Sniffer"

The author of the idea, screenwriter and director of the Ukrainian detective series "The Sniffer" was Artem Litvinenko. The premiere of the series on Russian television took place in December 2013, and in October 2015 the second season of the film was released. For two years, fans of the series have been waiting for the sequel. And in October 2017, the third season began showing.

The main character of the series

The main character is nicknamed the Sniffer, as he has a phenomenal sense of smell, by smell he can tell a lot about a person: what he eats, what diseases he has, with whom he has an intimate relationship. The smell appears to him in the form of very real images, each crime has its own smell. By the smell of the components,included in the paint, he is able to distinguish the genuine work of the artist from a fake. He has an extraordinary house, more like an operating room, in his home laboratory there is a huge collection of different smells. Sniffer's friend, Colonel Lebedev, often invites him as an expert, later he begins to work officially as a freelancer in the RRF.

But having such a gift is very difficult. He has a difficult relationship with his only son and ex-wife. Colleagues at work do not like him. To protect his receptors from the abundance of odors, he constantly inserts special filters into his nose, which he removes during work.

The Sniffer: Season 3

In the 2nd episode of the 3rd season of "The Sniffer", according to the fans of the series, the most interesting events begin, shedding light on the origin of the protagonist's unique gift. It all starts with a call from Tallinn. Arriving at his father's funeral, the Sniffer finds himself at the epicenter of mysterious events: the missing father's letter, a diary with torn pages found in the apartment of a friend of his father, the brutal murder of two old men: Johan and Elena. Viktor Lebedev, suspended from his duties, comes to Estonia to help a friend figure things out. They follow the trail of the killer, but he escapes, taking the folder with documents and the letter from the hands of the Sniffer.

Arriving from Tallinn, friends plunge into everyday work and solve several more crimes. In parallel, they are looking for the mysterious Dr. L. Soon the Sniffer learns that his childless parentsresorted to artificial insemination that he is a test tube baby. From the age of eight, the KGB became interested in him, they wanted to take him away from home and place him in a special boarding school. The father, in order to leave his son, was forced to cooperate with the KGB. The mysterious Dr. L. turns out to be Heinrich Lokmus, the head of the GI corporation. Further in the 3rd season of "The Sniffer", according to the audience, events begin to develop rapidly. The journalist who told Viktor how Lokmus got full control of the corporation is killed, and the killer who killed Johan and Elena in Tallinn has been identified. The Sniffer is handed torn pages from Johan's diary, from which he learns that Lokmus may very well be his biological father. The main character understands that he is being drawn into some kind of game.

The essence of what is happening is revealed when the Sniffer woke up after being kidnapped on the operating table: Lokmus needs a new heart grown from his son's stem cells. Victor senses that Lokmus is behind the murders and the kidnapping of his friend. With the help of Gena, Irina and Viktor infiltrate the medical center to save the Sniffer, but he manages by himself by shooting at the helicopter with Lokmus. Viktor leaves the SBR, and the owner of an amazing olfactory gift leaves for Estonia. This is how The Sniffer Season 3 ended.

The role of Colonel Viktor Lebedev, the Sniffer's best friend, went to Ivan Oganesyan, an actor known to viewers from many TV shows. The role of Yulia, the ex-wife of the Sniffer, was played by actress Maria Anikanova, familiar to theatergoers from productions at the Sovremennik Theater. The role played by Anikanova is very ambiguous. Someone considers Yulia a bitch, and someone thinks that she still loves her husband, and her actions are directly related to the feeling of annoyance that she cannot live next to him.

Reviews of the 3rd season of the film "The Sniffer"

As you might expect, the reviews are diametrically opposed. Minor quibbles aside, there are some very valuable critiques, especially about plot inconsistencies that make it seem like whoever wrote the script for Season 3 doesn't know how Season 2 ended. It would be nice for the writer to pay attention to this. But how many people - so many opinions. Someone thinks that if the first season was more or less good,then the second one is already "sour", and the third one is just "wretched". Someone thinks the series is cool and is looking forward to continuing. To form your own opinion about the film, you just have to watch it.
