Our hero recalls that once he had a chance to visit a special room of the House of Culture of Moscow State University. Musical instruments were kept there. In this room one could find valves, pipes, clarinets. He was fascinated. He asked his mother to buy him a guitar, and she granted his wish. Soon came the era of the Beatles. By this time, our hero had nine guitars, which he made with his own hands.

Technology

Smirnov Ivan created the instruments himself. The basis for them were guitars that have outlived their time. From such instruments, the heel was sawn off, the neck was unscrewed. Next, a stool was taken and the shape was cut out. Pickups were created from telephone microphones. Ivan played at school parties. Soon he went underground - "underground".

Second wind

Smirnov Ivan calls this group a powerful team. When the young man was in the 9th grade, the team performed at an evening at school. The musicians played professionally, the repertoire of Jimi Hendrix sounded. The group included three people: bassist, guitarist and drummer. Their names were Igor Dekterev, Kolya Shiryaev and Maxim Kapitanovsky. The first one played the guitar. Moreover, his instrument was a proprietary reprint of the Stratocaster. The performance of this group made an indelible impression on our hero. After the team broke up.

After some time, other people recreated the group, but they chose another direction - instrumental. The participants contacted our hero and invited him to work together. The musicians were several years older than him. The team began to play music in the jazz-rock direction. In particular, their repertoire included the work of Billy Kappam. Once Aleksey Kozlov came to the group's performance. He noted that it was impossible to play studio music in concert. But the young men enjoyed their work.

Then came the time of various Soviet VIA. As a result, the entire underground came to naught. It was a correct calculation from an ideological point of view. The people began to get used to the then Russian-speaking stage. Our hero wondered how you can sing rock in Russian. Soon the concerts stopped altogether. However, the musician had already had three children at that moment, and he needed a job. As a result, he became a member of the Blue Guitars group. Smirnov Ivan came out of the underground to the general public. Kozlov's music was complex. The notes have become solid geometry. Everything was calculated to the smallest detail. Many played exclusively by notes. It was impossible to remember this. Activities at Arsenal have become a significant professional practice for our hero. Kozlov helped the musician, perhaps against his will, decide on the option for further development.

One day he asked me to prepare a piece for acoustic guitar. Our hero admits that he has gravitated towards acoustics all his life. However, he continued to play by inertia on the electric guitar. As a result, the work was created. He was played in a group, but it gradually broke up. As a result, our hero began to perform it alone, which became the basis of the future solo project.

At first he worked with Andrey Vinogradov. He played keyboards at Arsenal, and the musicians discussed the possibility of creating their own project for a long time. The result was a breakthrough. At that moment, our hero decided not to reinvent the wheel, but to find his own space and cultivate it. He traveled to Edinburgh, Scotland for the Fringe Festival.
