Teaching and first film
His biggest dream has always been cinema. He wanted to make his own pictures. And after graduating from school, he decided to enter the Gerasimov State All-Russian Institute of Cinematography. Alexander managed to break through there the first time. The future Russian film director was one of the best applicants at his faculty. Studying gave Alexander real pleasure.
After graduating with honors in 1985, Alexander was already working on his first film “Who are you, horseman?”: he wrote the script for it.
The picture tells about the twenties of the last century. An English gold mining company opens a gold mine on the border of Kazakhstan. Soviet Union in the Civil War. The protagonist decides to deal with the suppliers and distributors of the harmful potion. But one of them sends a hitman to kill Moro so that he does not interfere with the dirty business.
The film became instantly popular during the Soviet era. Viktor Tsoi was recognized as the best actor in 1988.
Shanghai
Already in the new Russia, in 1996, the film "Shanghai" was released. Alexander Baranov worked on the tape on three fronts at once: as a director, producer and screenwriter.
The film tells about a small area in the post-Soviet outback called Shanghai. People of different nationalities once lived and did not notice that their roots were leavingfar into the history of Europe or Asia. But after the collapse of the great country, the Germans, who have lived here all their lives, are going to leave for their historical homeland, while not knowing a single German word.
The film tells about the old days of a great country that cannot be returned. Each person was equal to the others, regardless of their nationality.
Christmas Story
Alexander Baranov comes to Moscow in 1997 at the invitation of Bakhyt Kilibaev to shoot a new film "New Year's story" - a comedy film.
During the filming of the children's New Year's program, the real Santa Claus turned out to be in the cast. He has been fulfilling one wish for many years. People from the anti-alien unit found out about this. This group was very colorful: three guards, a living mannequin, a boy and a girl from a variety show. But while they were fighting off the alien invasion, Santa Claus disappeared. Because the time for miracles has passed. But later, each of the heroes discovers the most needed gift.
Yolki-2

But by a coincidence, they lost contact for a long 40 years. Grigory Zemlyanikin (the same pilot) has been waiting for Yulia all these years on Red Square on New Year's Eve. As soon as the woman arrives at the square, Gregory is sent on a flight. Thanks to the actions of completely different people, he learns that Julia is waiting for him. The pilot decides to land on a small runway. As a result, two loving people meet after 40 years.
