The history of Soviet cinema knows many great actors worthy of being world-class stars. And perhaps many of them would be recognized all over the world if they had a chance to live in another time. One of them, no doubt, is our today's hero - Olyalin Nikolai Vladimirovich.
Childhood
Kolya Olyalin was born in the small village of Opikhalino, which is located in the Vologda region, on May 22, 1941. And exactly one month later, the bloodiest war in the history of mankind broke out. Of course, he did not remember this terrible time, but for the rest of his life he remembered the picture of victorious soldiers returning from the front. Trucks were passing through Vologda in a continuous stream, in which there were many fighters without arms or legs. These war-torn people remained forever in his memory.
The older brother of the future actor signed up for a drama club, followed by Nikolai. He was taken only because there were not enough guys in the circle at that time to play episodic roles. However, in children's performances, even the roles of soldiers who do not havewords, Kolya did not succeed. One day, guys from the school where the young actor studied came to the premiere of the play. Noticing that Kolya's role was not going well, they began to openly mock him right from the audience. And then Olyalin showed a fighting character - he began to play in such a way that he shocked even the head of the studio, not to mention the audience.
Choice of profession
People of the older generation probably remember that after the war in Vologda, and in other provincial cities, the word "artist" was, if not a household word, then rather offensive. Therefore, at the insistence of his father, Nikolai went to Leningrad to enter a military school. True, it did not come to the entrance exams. Suddenly, the young man changed his mind. The next academic year, N. Olyalin entered LGITMiK in Leningrad. The young man's obvious northern accent did not interfere with admission.
Krasnoyarsk Theater for Young Spectators
After graduating from high school, aspiring actor Nikolai Olyalin was sent to work in Krasnoyarsk. At that time, a theater for young spectators in this city was just being created. From the first days of work, the young actor did not have a relationship with the main director. Nikolai Vladimirovich himself believed that the reason for this was his quarrelsome character. He was given mainly episodic roles, but despite this, even in small roles, he attracted the attention of viewers and critics. He was even recognized as the best comedian of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. At this time, Nikolai Olyalin, whose biography was inextricably linked with creativity, became popular incity. He also got his first fans.
Artist's personal life
Among the admirers of his talent, Olyalin, whose photo you see in this article, met his only one - the charming girl Nelly, who worked in those years in the district committee of the Komsomol, who became his faithful companion for life. Young people fell in love with each other at first sight. A month later they became husband and wife. Two children were born in the family - son Vladimir and daughter Olga. None of them became actors.
Working in movies
In early 1965, Nikolai Olyalin, whose biography, it would seem, was strongly connected with the theater, made his film debut. It was the role of a test pilot in the film "Flying Days". The debut turned out to be so successful that offers from famous and not very famous directors literally rained down on him. "Major Whirlwind", "Shield and Sword", "The Path to Saturn" … Actor Olyalin could decorate all these famous and well-known paintings if he had been warned about the samples in time. The fact is that the theater management deliberately hid the invitations they received from him, not wanting to let the popular artist go to the shooting.
Most likely, the same fate awaited the epic film "Liberation". But the “good angel” came to the aid of the actor - a girl who worked in the administration of the theater. She, under great secrecy, informed Nikolai about the invitation received. To take part in the tests, I had to go to the trick - take a sick leave and tell the administration that he was leaving for a sanatorium.
Director Yuri Ozerov saw inactor not only masculine beauty, but also his amazing ability to create a new image of the great Russian soldier. After this film, Nikolai Olyalin, whose biography began to change, moved to Kyiv, where he was accepted with open arms to the Dovzhenko film studio.
Directors began to often use the image of a military man created by the actor. Major Toporkov from G. Lipshitz's film "No Way Back" filled the audience with his sincerity and fortitude for a long time. A year later, Nikolai Olyalin, whose filmography began to rapidly fill with very strong works, starred in the film "Insolence", where he played the role of a brave and strong-willed Soviet intelligence officer. It's amazing, but the actor who created such expressive images of the military did not serve in the army.
1970s. Popularity
The peak of the actor's popularity falls precisely on these years. All popular publications sought to publish his photo. Nikolai Olyalin literally bathed in the rays of glory. Thanks to the incredible popularity of the actor in the cinema, theater directors turned their attention to him. At that time, Oleg Efremov had just taken over the leadership of the Moscow Art Theater. He invited an actor to his troupe. He promised to help him with obtaining housing, offered the best roles, but Nikolai was too busy in the cinema, so he did not accept this tempting offer.
In the seventies, in addition to the military, Nikolai Vladimirovich began to offer a wide variety of roles. In Y. Dubrovin's drama "The World Guy", he played the role of Viktor Loginov. Soviet engineer who became a memberincredible car race. His role in the famous comedy "Gentlemen of Fortune", in the film "Golden River", the ironic thriller "Mad Gold" did not go unnoticed. For ten years of active work in the domestic cinema, Nikolai Olyalin has played in eighteen films. Having no Ukrainian roots, in 1979 the actor was awarded the high title of People's Artist of Ukraine.
1990s
After the collapse of the Soviet Union, Nikolai Olyalin, whose biography was already inextricably linked with cinema, like a large number of talented actors, was practically left without work. During this period, he appeared before the fans of his work in a completely new capacity - a director. However, his good pictures about love remained unclaimed. Perhaps the troubled times are to blame for this, or maybe the illegibility of the distributors…
This state of affairs could drive another person into utter despair. But not our hero. As the actor himself recalled, interesting videos of the Russian Project instilled hope for a better future in him. Completely uncomplicated, they returned forgotten idols to the screens of our compatriots. For ordinary viewers, these works evoked warm feelings and faith in the future. The hero of one of these videos was the artist Nikolai Olyalin. Scenarios for the "Russian Project" were written by P. Lutsik, who later invited Olyalin to his painting "Outskirts". Unfortunately, after this work, the actor did not have other film roles.
The last years of the actor's life
For a long time films with Olyalin did not appear at all onscreens. The actor took up writing essays about his colleagues, tried his hand as a screenwriter. All the experiences associated with work could not but affect the state of he alth of the beloved actor. In the mid-nineties, Nikolai Olyalin underwent a serious heart operation. For an actor who was loved by millions of viewers, the state did not have money for an expensive operation. He was helped by a close friend, Pyotr Deinekin, Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Air Force. Only in 2003, the actor Olyalin Nikolai Vladimirovich starred in the TV series "Tote" and the television version of "Night Watch".
His work, as usual, was amazingly expressive. They were remembered by the audience for a long time. The popular favorite, the most talented person Nikolai Vladimirovich Olyalin, an actor whose filmography includes 64 (!) magnificent works, passed away on November 17, 2009.
