One of the most famous American writers of the nineteenth century is Edgar Allan Poe. “The Frog” (a summary of the work is the subject of this review) is a story that, in a somewhat fabulous form, tells about a rather dramatic story that happened in one kingdom. This short story is somewhat reminiscent of the famous play by V. Hugo about a jester who suffered from power. This plot is better known thanks to Verdi's opera "Rigoletto", in which the main character takes cruel revenge on his offenders.

Intro

The writer Edgar Poe is considered the most prominent representative of American romanticism and the creator of the modern detective story. "The Frog" (a summary of the author's work should begin with a description of the main character) is one of the most significant works in the author's work, despite its small volume. At the beginning, the writer tells about the kingdom in which the jester-dwarf, nicknamed the Frog, lived. The ruler of this fictitious state was very fond of jokes and fun, and therefore all his entourage constantly practiced wit, just to please their master. Even ministers and statesmen did not escape this sad fate: to be jesters at court. Here again clearlythere is a reference to the play by Hugo, where the retinue of the king also encouraged his entertainment in every possible way.

Start of conflict

Edgar Allan Poe is considered a true master of action stories. “The Frog” (a brief summary of the story should be continued with a description of the plot) is a short story dedicated to the popular theme of the “little man” in the 19th century. The impetus for the enmity of the dwarf with the court was a very unpleasant episode at the palace festival, in which the jester and his friend Tripetta took part. Wanting to have fun, the king ordered the dwarf to drink wine, knowing that he could not stand alcohol. Seeing such a humiliation of a friend, the girl tried to intercede for him, but the king threw wine right in her face, which caused the jester's great anger.

Climax

Edgar Poe built his works on a very simple but extremely dynamic composition. "The Frog" (the summary of the book should include a detailed retelling of the incident at the holiday) is a work that is dedicated to the idea of a little man's rebellion against injustice. Having recovered a little after the wine, the jester conceived a terrible joke: he invited all those present to dress up as orangutans and continue the fun. Choosing a convenient moment, he hung them on chains and set them on fire, after which he fled with Tripetta. So, the representatives of the social lower classes are the main characters in the story under consideration. "The Frog" (Edgar Poe, the author of the work, focused on their protest) isa book that is recommended for students to read at school in foreign literature lessons.
