A bit of seahorse history

Before answering the question of how to draw seahorses, you need to know a little about them. The seahorse appeared not so long ago, as scientists say, it is a mutated species of needle fish.

These creatures prefer to live surrounded by algae, as they have a unique property - mimicry. It is because of this fact that people think that there are a lot of varieties of seahorses. Actually it is not. There are only 32 of them, but since each of them can change color, the variety of colors of seahorses is amazing.

Many people will be surprised, but this type of fish is inactive. They areattach their tail to the algae and in this state spend up to 10 hours catching their food.

Pencil technique

Anyone who has ever wondered how to draw a seahorse with a pencil understands that you need to start with a sketch:

• First you need to outline the general shape. The head in the first step should look like a horse, and the body should look like the base of the treble clef symbol.
• If a seahorse is drawn surrounded by algae, then you need to consider that the size of this fish does not exceed 20 cm.
• Having sketched the first outlines, you need to move on to the first drawing. At this stage, the seahorse's head is similar to that of a crocodile, with a large skull and a long proboscis nose.

• Cut off a thin strip from the back - this area does not need further work. On the rest of the body, evenly and, most importantly, in shape, you need to apply horizontal stripes.

Painting in color with kids

Drawing with children, many parents are wondering how to draw a seahorse in stages. Here is a simplescheme for drawing a unique marine fish using cams and fingers:

• First you need to choose bright colors that harmonize well with each other. You can look at analogues of seahorses on the Internet, or you can choose your favorite combination.
