Avar theaters: about the theatre, repertoire, premiere

Avar theaters are very rare. So much so that there is only one in the world. This is the Music and Drama Theater of the city of Makhachkala. His repertoire includes classics, plays by contemporary authors and works by national playwrights.

About the theater

Avar theaters, as mentioned above, are found only in a single copy in the world. Such a team exists only in Makhachkala.

The Avar Music and Drama Theater was opened in 1935. It happened in the village of Khunzakh. In 1943 the troupe was transferred to the city of Buynaksk. Since 1951, the theater has been named after Gamzat Tsadasy (Dagestan poet). In 1961, the specifics of the team's work changed. The theater became musical and dramatic. In 1968, the troupe was transferred to the city of Makhachkala.

In 2009, Kh. A. Abdulgapurov was appointed to the post of artistic director of the theater. M. M. Magomedrasulov has been the director since 2013.

The troupe employs actors of different generations. The repertoire includes performances for both adults and children.

Recently, the team solemnly celebrated its 80th anniversary. The celebration program was varied. It was attended not only by theater artists, but also by guests from other regions of Dagestan. The event was held in the form of a musical theatrical performance. Its name is "At the hearth of our ancestors".

Today, the theater sets itself the task of keeping up with the times, but at the same time honoring the best traditions of performing arts. The team has many new ideas and plans. He will continue to delight his audience with interesting projects.

Avar theaters were created to preserve the cultural heritage of the people. The musical and drama group of Makhachkala has been setting itself such a task for all the years of its existence. His repertoire includes works by national playwrights.

Season Premiere

On April 18, 2016, the Avar Theater presented a new performance. This is a play by the Dagestan playwright Shapi Kaziev. The title of the play is Ancestor.

This is a comedy with a lot of different colorful characters. The performance includes dialogues, fights, and dances of the goddesses of Ancient Greece.

The work reflects our life, although it is a perfect fiction. But people like his characters do happen in real life.

Turning to modern prose, not to the classics, is a kind of risk that the Avar theater decided to take. The new performance was staged by director Magomedarip Surkhatilov.
