In the musical sky, the stars light up and go into oblivion at the speed of light. The styles, images, beloved by the public, are changing, and with them the performers. But there are those who are remembered, if not for their songs, then at least for their individuality, special style and unusual sound. These include the Russian rock band "Pilgrim" - a team with an unusual fate and extraordinary creativity.

About the group. Creation history

It is difficult to name the exact date of birth of the group. Its permanent soloist Andrei Kovalev was the founder of the university musical group back in 1975. The student group "Pilgrim" did not last long and was forgotten until 1987. Andrey Kovalev creates a new team with the name and style of the previous one. The first album is released - "Confessions of an egoist".

In 1989 the band went on tour to Italy. The country captivates the guys, and they ask for political asylum. The Italian authorities do not refuse, but at home, in the USSR, the "Pilgrims" become outcasts. They are waiting first for the internationalscandal, and then oblivion. The Pilgrim group becomes banned. But when the rocker's star is almost gone, fate (or the frontman) decides that "Pilgrim" should return to the sky of Russian rock.

After 16 years, Andrey Kovalev once again recreates the group, leaving the name and concept. In the city of Pushkin, the first mini-concert takes place at the bike show. It is worth saying that the biker theme is becoming one of the main ones along with the patriotic one. But more on that below.

Soloist and creator of the group "Pilgrim" Andrey Kovalev is an extraordinary person. Several hypostases in it are intertwined and at the same time oppose each other: a musician, a businessman, a rocker, a deputy and a biker - this is all about Andrey. Unfortunately, when many personality characteristics are mixed, a person may not be understood by their social groups. This happens throughout life with Kovalev. In the role of a deputy, his rocker habits are criticized by colleagues; among rockers, the “singing deputy” causes bewilderment and misunderstanding. Andrei Kovalev (Pilgrim group) is not one of those who pay attention to barbs. The team and its creativity are developing, bright videos with celebrities are being shot, new songs and releases are being written. And although critics avidly deny that the group belongs to rock, "Pilgrim" has its own permanent, quite mature and original audience. Against the backdrop of fading rock stars and capturing the main positions of rappers and pop artists, this is very good. The team has room to develop, which means that their songs will sound for a long time.

The group's repertoire can hardly be called diverse. The theme of the "Pilgrims" is patriotic, biker songs, largely inheriting the "Arias" singles such as "Roar of Motors" and folk songs arranged ("Sirotinushka"). Musical accompaniment - hard rock, hard guitar riffs, virtuoso drum rolls take you to the world of demons, warriors, angels and bikers ("Not a demon, not an angel", "Half-beast"). Slavic mythology along with demonology are woven into patriotic themes. And the hard metal unexpectedly softly frames the peculiar love lyrics of Kovalev (“Kara”, “Damned Love”). In the repertoire of rockers, everyone can find something that suits their mood.

"Pilgrim" and Pamela Anderson

Andrey Kovalev is doing everything possible for popularity. The Pilgrim group releases albums jointly created with popular rappers (the guys are working on the release of "Marta" with Ptakha and "Legalize"), celebrities are invited to the clips. The Finnish "Apocalyptic" is participating in the filming of the video for the song "Judas", in the Command Performance promo video the team is filmed together with Dolph Lundgren. The band has a lot to be proud of.

In September 2014, Pamela Anderson arrives to shoot the "Motor Roar" video. She plays a bride running away from the wedding. The clip elicited a variety of responses. Biker clubs did not support the release, criticizing the image of Kovalev. Yes, and about Pamela crawled the most diverserumors, including speculation that the actress did not participate in the filming, but only provided materials for editing the video. These rumors were fueled by the shooting style, where the star Pam and Kovalev are really not shown in general shots, but there are a lot of photos on the net where the star beauty and the Pilgrim group are together.
